Welcome, Glow Worms—this month, we’re all June Bugs and there are no bummers allowed at this beach party! 

For this month’s badge, please pick THREE of these offered tasks. 

I have divided them up into three categories: 

LOW for easy to do, simple tasks that should take about an hour or so, MEDIUM tasks that might take a few hours to complete and HIGH for extensive projects that might be a little taxing (especially if you’re feeling smol). 

Each category has options from totally free to spending a little money, depending on your comfort level and how much available spending we all have. 

So break out your floppiest hats, lather on some sunscreen, pop that umbrella and kick on back! 

Now—let’s get this party stated

LOW: 

• Make a “trash” fish—Using containers, old scraps of fabric, straws, etc. make an art project to reflect the oceans and their lovely creatures. A bottle can make an absolutely fabulous jellyfish, but be careful with your scissors! 
• Build a UV reactive bracelet/necklace—using UV beads or reactive paints, make a wearable piece of jewelry to demonstrate the power of the sun! 
• Attend an outdoor concert or show—sometimes places won’t allow you take pics of the actors so a ticket stub is a great way to commemorate an outdoor event!
• Make summer popsicles—fruit juice, edible flowers and herbs, spicy add ons like Chamoy and Tajin, a chocolate dip, nuts, all make wonderful snacks all summer long! 
• Visit a local park and take pictures of five (5) different flowers or plants that are around! 

MEDIUM: 

• Make a signature ice cream flavor—Nutella, chocolate cookie dough chunk, super strawberry cheesecake surprise—this can be done with heavy cream, a blender, and your freezer, no fancy machines required! 
• Have an indoor/outdoor campout—everybody pull out your sleeping bags and your stuffies, we’re camping out! Whether you create a tent with some blankets and your furniture or you go all out, wilderness survivor style, spend the night “roughing it” your style! 
• Make an origami bouquet—using fancy paper or paint, fold up some flowers that will never die! Stems can be made with straws or pipe-cleaners! 
• Glass painting—get some cheap glass jars, vases, or other glassware and paint them up! Some even are transparent and can look like stained glass windows! 
• Shell candles—Using shells, old candles, and small bits of wick, carefully pour wax into sea shells and add wicks. You can even add decorations on top like sand, smaller candles, or other wax add-ins! 

HIGH: 

• Visit your nearest beach—this is not feasible for many people, so if this is something that interests you but it’s too far to trek, look up your closest one and what makes it unique. Does it have a high number of crabs or a specific type of fish? Does it have sea turtle hatches every spring? 
• Take a class—now is the time to learn something new! Scuba certifications, surfing, cooking classes, dancing, there’s a million opportunities to learn and join the community while doing so! 
• Go stargazing—this is something that you can do with an app like SkyView (free!), a telescope, or even visiting your local planetarium! 
• Make a summer outfit—for all my sewists out there, this is for you! Get out a project and either use or make a pattern for a cute summer outfit and/or a new stuffed summertime friend! 
• Backyard BBQ—this can be done on the grill or in the oven! Make a spread to share or just for one! 

Summertime is for fun times! Stay cool, stay safe, and have fun!

💚 If you could live by any ocean, which one would it be and why. 

💚 (Littles) Color a picture of your favourite marine creature.

💚 Make a bracelet or anklet in colors that would best represent the animal you like and the ocean waters it comes from. 

💚 If you live near a beach, pick up seashells and make a craft. If you don't live by a beach and still wish to make something, Walmart, Dollar Tree, and I'm sure a few others should carry them in the craft section.

* DRAW THE SUN AND MOON

Craft:

1. One way Americans celebrate the 4th of July is with fireworks. Make your own fireworks with whatever you want to. I have a few fun projects I have found. There are so many fun ways to make fireworks on Pinterest here are a few I have found.

2. Make an American flag with anything you have on hand. It can be with construction paper, paint, chalk. If you can sew make your own with fabric. Be crafty and have fun!!!

@beanbean @Juju this is a few days late but I just got back to the real world with service.

For this one I have done the following:

Popsicles- I made Popsicles or Ice pops out of the extra peaches from my fruit tree.  As you can see I have a bunch. I use them for smoothies as well as just to snack on. 

Glass painting - I got milk bottles to paint to hold my lego flowers.

Beach day - I have added a fun photo from one of the beaches on my trip.b

- Favorite Animal Paragraph - Sea Turtles

  Sea Turtles are a majestic endangered animal. There are seven species: Flatback, Green, Hawksbill, Leatherback, Loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, and Olive ridley. Of the 7 species only two are not considered endangered.
Turtles live in all oceans except the polar regions, but are mostly located over continental shelves. They mostly live in seaweed mats. They do travel to beaches to lay eggs. Most turtles will only lay eggs on the same beach they were born on. These eggs are called clutches and in one season a female can lay up to 8 clutches. The gender of turtles is based on the temperature of the nest.
Each type of turtle eats different items. Most are omnivours, but some like the Leatherback prefer Jelly fish. The Green Turtles become herbivours as they age. The turtles help keep sea grass down and allow for the space for other animals to breed.

- Sea Shell Craft - I had a ton of shells in a cup from years of collecting, and now they are a pretty set up. I hope this counts.

1. Watch Fireworks - No picture, but my neighbors start firing them off middle of June. I saw them from my back yard

2. I made Smores at a camp out with my nephews. No pictures as they all had kids in them. 

3. Read three books: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Crecent City House of Earth and Blood, How the Necromancer in the Gold Vest Saved my Life, and several more.

4. Wear Flip Flops- Like every day and I just got my nails done. 

5. Eat Ice Cream - I do this all the time. I love ice cream its the bestest. I had Snickers Ice Cream Bars, Blackberry cheese cake, dark chocolate, and all the flavors. 

6. I have a ton of plants. The one in my window is a mess and takes a lot of water. It gets watered weekly. - **Post pic later**

7. I cleaned out my linen closet and donated the blankets, towels, and sheets I no longer needed to the SPCA, and both city and county shelters. I also was able to provide a rescue with exercise pins for their babies.

8. Clean Up after dinner. I live alone so the dishes only get done if I do them. 

9. Wear Sunscreen. I am super fair skinned so I wear sunscreen everyday in my makeup and extra on days out at the zoo or trips.

10. I am so excited I had an arborist at the house to look at trees, and he told me I had pecans, bitter walnuts (not edible), wild plums, and even a chestnut tree. I was so excited as I had not idea. 

11. Help a Friend. I was able to help a friends who runs a rescue by providing meds for some of her clients. 

12 and 13. Dance with someone Special and Have a sing along. I love to turn on the music and sing with my grandson. We sing and dance and laugh. Its the best.

1 - 3. We planted and have been weeding our fairy garden beds in the backyard - plus we learned about a new flower, the Shasta Daisy the girls picked out.

4-5. I took my littlest on a hike & and we did a nature scavenger hunt.

6. I earned my first GW badge for March!

7. I made everyone a nummy fajita lunch.

8. I work with many active military and veterans as a therapist, so I took some space in sessions with each of them to show gratitude and thanks for their service (obviously cannot have a photo for those moments).

9. We invited over a new little boy who has moved onto the street to play in the back yard (can't have photos of the kiddos).

10. I made the girls special pancake breakfast.

11. I tried a new food with Daddy on our visit - yummy hot pot!

12-13. I helped out a neighbor (my sister-in-law and brother) by watching their three kiddos for them - we played and made chalk drawings. And I got to play with their pet kitty cat, Leo.

14. I did some spring cleaning and reorganized drawers and the toy closet.

15. We visited the experimental farm and petting zoo.

16. I made cupcakes for my kiddo's school yearly cake walk fundraiser.

17. We gathered up some food and donated to the food bank (but the photos all have my kiddos in them).

18. We made a leprechaun trap! With gold coins.

19. I did lots of laundry...lots and lots of laundry. I guess its not really learning how to do laundry - but I feel the sheer amount I do should count for something! 🤣

20. We coloured eggs as part of Easter!

@Juju I think we are supposed to tag you if there is double from one badge to another (like for the Easter eggs) for you to approve - and then maybe your daddy could sign off?

* Make a sun-catcher, and display it in your windows: We made butterfly wing suncatchers and played with them outside! I saw a dinosaur one and wanna make it this summer. Rawwwr 🦖 

* Create a cloud out of materials you have at home, e.g. - cotton balls, beads, yarn, pipe cleaners, tissue paper, etc.. use your imagination: We decided to make a rainy cloud science experiment and learn about precipitation! It was such messy fun!

* Plant A Fairy Garden: The weather isn’t quite ready to plant everything yet but we got our fairy gardens ready!

I am middle and little.  These took me to little space, which is the rules I follow.

So I love Mary had a little lamb. It is the best.  

I did a bunch of coloring and read all the rhymes on the pages.  Then 

I went to pick up a baby goat for a friend and ended up being followed by an alpaca.  So I got to be Mary for a minute. Lambs and alpacas are the same family right. 

I completed flower crown photos and did some flowers in my hair. I then did a ton of planting.
