I LOVE music! I like how it makes me feel, so I listen to the words. So listening to heavy metal while I'm bad wouldn't be a good choice, haha. I think I listen mostly to the older songs 1960s-1990s. But sometimes I like the beats too and not necessarily the words, though some of them are good too. I guess that would be instrumental. So, I like classical, jazz, rap, rock alternative (1990s-current), hard style, trance, psytrance, techno, very few songs that are country (I don't normally listen to it, but some are great!), and some opera (I only know of my family member, but I like it), and religious chants.
I enjoy most genres so the songs I'm listening to on any given day can vary drastically. Today I'm listening to a song that is helpful when someone has hurt you, but never apologized for it. Its hard to get closure in those circumstances and songs like this really help.
I enjoy different genres, I don't really have a favorite song because it's more based on my mood than anything else. At the moment I find myself enjoying the kind of music used for soundtracks or trailers, but like I said I have no favorite one at the moment.
This song right now is one of the most listened in my extensive playlist.
i'm always trying to get more people into Marian Call, but here seems like an extra perfect place cuz she has a really fun song called Princess Cupcake (sfw link, to bandcamp). she has lots of songs i love to sing and dance to the put me in little space. i'm just sad cuz this particular song isn't on youtube or spotify so i can't put it on my little space playlist.
and if anyone loves goofy kids songs to sing along to, i'd suggest Trout Fishing in America! All I Want is a Proper Cup of Coffee (sfw link to youtube) is a fav even tho i don't actually like coffee.
My tastes in music are broad, from Yo-Yo Ma, Celia Cruz, and Kittie; to Noisia, Jimi Hendrix, and Gorillaz ... I never do feel like I'm keeping up enough with finding great new songs, or keeping up with old ones, and it's frequent that I'll have a tune in my head that I love, but couldn't tell you the exact name or band of.
My mom would play all kinds of stuff while I was growing up -- a lot of Salsa, a lot of World Music (including African, Native American, and Celtic)...tunes from Pavarotti to Billy Joel to Stevie Wonder to Dolly Parton.
Grew up on 80s Pop (especially Tears for Fears), R&B, 90s Rap and Hip Hop. When I turned 18, I discovered proper Jazz (lots of Bebop and Swing), and followed up with Fiona Apple and Tori Amos.
Never would have survived College without Alternative (Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots) and Metal (Metallica, Sepultura, Sevendust, Pantera). As I've grown older, I've developed a taste for the occasional Sea Shanty or Barbershop Quartet binge.
Soundgarden still feels like an old friend, decades after discovering them through ancient MTV (or was it Road Rash 3D? ^^; I don't quite remember which).
The only music that I can think to say that I actually straight up hate is 'Doo Wop'.
I keep plenty on hand for whenever the whim strikes, but on average, I tend to listen to Electronica the most these days. The variety of moods help me get through tasks with enough energy; and to be able to write without being too distracted by any particular lyrics' meaning.
When I'm in Middle Space, I tend to prefer anything Steven-Universe-esque, Video Game and Anime OSTs, Classical (especially piano, cello, guitar, or harp), and a smattering of Kpop.
"She had no wisdom but her innocence, no amour but her anger.
Who are you, Irian? he said to her, watching her crouched there like an animal locked in its muteness."
