How Can I Stay On Task?

Hi everybody. I'm a bit new here so pardon my awkwardness. I was just wondering if anybody could help me with something.

So I currently am without a mommy or daddy or other care giver. And I am managing okay I guess but I'm struggling. I am finding it very hard to stay on task and get my big responsibilities done. Like dishes, feeding the cats, and my laundry.

With a Caregiver it's easier because they help keep me on task and help me make sure I'm getting my things done that need done.

Does anybody have any advice on how I could do this on my own so that I can be responsible?

I've considered the idea of a sticker chart for myself and doing different kinds of self reward stuff like a new color book or watching my show. Does anybody have any advice for me?

The sticker chart is a very good way to help you get stuff done, I like to make lists on a whiteboard and reward myself with treats once I'm done. A good app to use is BoosterBuddy, it helps me to stay on track and get everything that I need to done. It has a cute little animal that helps guide you along to. You could also set aside a time for yourself where you will be big and get all your chores done, once that time is up you can be little and reward yourself. Sectioning it up and making each task seem smaller is a good way to help you get more done as well. You can also think to yourself, you're doing it for when you do get a caregiver, you can show them everything you have done and make them proud whenever you get one.

Hope this helps!

Hi there! That does help a lot! I will have to check that app out and see if it'll be good for me. I'll have to try sectioning it up as well. I know it overwhelms me sometimes so maybe that would make it not as overwhelming

I love the idea of that app.  Good share there babygirllally!  I always recommending making a list of what you need to get done, then prioritizing it from most to least important before putting it on a chart.  Some times thing come up unexpectedly.  It helps to do the "must be done" things first.  Just my thoughts.

Has anyone checked out bullet journals? There's a website and lots of videos on YT. You can organize and decorate it however you like. Maybe that could help keep you on track.

Hey!  Oh man, I have the WORST trouble with this... you are not alone!  Why would I vacuum when I can eat cookies and watch tv instead?  Terrible self control.

I have a planner and make to do lists, but I found myself just composing the same list every week, because nothing ever got checked off.  Someone just told me about an app called Trello, which is really easy to use.  I can make notes for a specific task, like phone numbers, forms to be filled out, info I need to get first, etc.

But for housework and cleaning... rewards are the only thing that (kind of) work.  Because I don't get the same kind of pleasure out of getting something done as I do when someone praises me for it.  My list of rewards looks like:

-Movie with popcorn and soda

-New pair of socks

-Gift cards to favorite stores

-Bag of candy

-Smoke a bowl and relax

It is important to note that without a list of chores or a schedule, I tend to just reward myself constantly.  I have been toying with the idea of a weekly chart, for example every Sunday would be laundry day, Monday I clean the bathroom, Tuesday is the kitchen, etc.

Daily tasks are even harder to structure.  All I can say is ants suck so do the dishes, and your cats are awesome and deserve to be fed :p
