but respect his decision if he doesen't want to do something.

I’ve tried sending him articles and giving advice on things I like when he does. He doesn’t seem like he wants to learn.

It can be hard to work up the nerve and it's normal to be embarrassed, but it's also really important to sit down and talk. Find out if he's interested in it or just being supportive.

you can ask him directly, its a conversation you two should have sooner rather than later

I vote on asking him directly. Communication is key, just talk to him about it. imo you’re not gonna get anywhere without putting time aside to sit down, express what you want. And if after the conversation, he doesn’t want to do it, respect his wishes, not everyone is comfortable with it.
