Foffy
Do any of you collect vinyls/records? I just started and I'm super excited about the whole thing. Got some of my favorite records to start me off! Strand of Oaks - "Heal"http://i.imgur.com/9vbdWxY.jpgPurity Ring - "another eternity"http://i.imgur.com/n0VM2ID.jpgA Winged Victory for the Sullen - "A Winged Victory for the Sullen"http://i.imgur.com/ugmF0fO.jpgAnd one of my favorites, Mono's "For My Parents", which is a 2-vinyl set (exciting). Really, really beautiful artwork.http://i.imgur.com/dznSgdg.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/Q4UfVuM.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/nqrDKaQ.jpg
Nice_Daddy
I don't know why I didn't see this posting before but .... Yes I do! Your collection looks to be off to a great start! I have a turntable and some old albums. Mostly picked up at garage sales and a local record store so the quality is hit and miss. I have been wondering if anyone had suggestions for good online sites that I can go check out? Enjoy!
Ringdancer
Maybe I don't understand the appeal but I used to have some way back in the day. Digital is just way more portable and it doesn't take up so much room to store and of course play as well.
Nice_Daddy
It's definitely not for everyone, but it does have some unique qualities. Nostalgia for one (for me at least). The sound is different on an album than it is on digital. I am not saying better, I am saying different. I can play my digital music thru my house speakers and it just doesn't seem to have the same depth. Maybe this depth is actually the 'noise' added by the needle running thru the groove and may be considered a form of contamination? Whatever the cause of my perceived extra depth of sound, I like it. And I do not listen to albums all the time, I need to be in a certain frame of mind. It is like a ritual almost. Looking thru my albums where the selection is limited. This makes my choice more relevant. Setting it up and then sitting back and listening (maybe sipping on a drink). I'm not doing anything else at this time usually, just relaxing and listening to the music. And I need to stay close just in case I need to lift the needle at the end. Some people may find all this extra work nothing more than an annoyance ... and I can understand that. In contrast, I have a ton of digital music. I can turn it on and hit shuffle and then do whatever I like. I may walk back an hour or two later and shut it off after only really hearing a couple of songs. And like you stated, digital is much more portable. So I use digital a lot more often than the albums, but I listen to the music more closely when I use an album. If that makes sense. Either way, enjoy music!

magical mila
These are my top three albums right now. I listen to Carole in the morning when I get ready, Sonny and Cher when I get home from school, and then I move on to Hair in the evenings. I think I am drawn to the Hair album because of the album art. It's so colorful and I LOVE THAT. But then again, it's also a great album.
