Andriel_Isilien Posted December 2, 2022 Report Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) In the past few years, I have taken to making ornaments and crafts this time of year related to Yule; the pagan Sabbat to honor the return of Light after the longest night of the year (winter solstice). I like to use natural materials that I have easy access to. It's simply working with what I already have. Orange slices represents the sun as lighter days are to come back, slowly in strength after the long nights. Sprig of pine I attached to the orange slices and the main garland is fake pine (because it would be such a mess and it's toxic to my pet sugar gliders). Pine is a sign of endurance during the winter months. Evergreen is eternal life, health, and happiness. Pine can help ease depression and boost energy while the sun is away. Dried cranberries are also on the ornaments for a symbol of healing and abundance. The stars are simple sticks I have picked up and glued together. The shape combined with oranges welcomes the happy energy from every point. Cinnamon would be excellent to use this way! The spice is wonderful for drawing in prosperity, protection, and warmth of the sun. Tiny bells are on each star to clear the air, banish negative energy and welcome in the positive ones. This is really beautiful, I love it. I really appreciate how you're using natural materials to decorate and represent nature. 1
Andriel_Isilien Posted December 3, 2022 Report Posted December 3, 2022 A few years ago, I got into painting rocks and got ideas from Pinterest. I saw one of a gingerbread house that I copied. It's so tiny and cute! 🍭🍬🤎🎇 2 1

Guest LilBitz Posted December 3, 2022 Report Posted December 3, 2022 @Andriel_Isilien Aw! That lil rock is adorable! 🥰🎄🌟
Guest Snow_Daddy Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 I can't show my own work on this... I have tried and I tend to keep messing it up. but I would love this and other styles of snow flakes.
Andriel_Isilien Posted December 26, 2022 Report Posted December 26, 2022 Another craft or tradition I like to do each Yule or Winter Solstice is to put out some food for the birds. Again, I prefer to use what natural materials I have related to this time of year; the shell/peel of an orange and a pinecone. 🌰🥜 These make cute decorations out in the yard and it's always nice to see friends flock to enjoy my gift. 🐦 Already I saw a blue jay! 1 2 1

SweetIsMyMiddleName Posted October 8, 2023 Report Posted October 8, 2023 I made these Christmas cards a couple of years ago. I didn’t have time to make any last year but I might have time this year. These are fun to make especially if you like doing origami. 1 1
