NorseChick Posted July 16, 2023 Author Report Posted July 16, 2023 I haven't, but I know who the author is. I like various Japanese authors like Koji Suzuki, Ryu Murakami.
NorseChick Posted July 20, 2023 Author Report Posted July 20, 2023 He wrote the books Audition (the Japanese film Audition is based on the book) In the Miso Soup & other books. Goodreads, Librarything are a good websites for book recommendations, book reviews.
lilpincess Posted July 20, 2023 Report Posted July 20, 2023 Ah, gotcha. I've read/seen Audition before. I haven't read the others though
NorseChick Posted July 21, 2023 Author Report Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) I forgot to say about the book Piercing as well which has also been adapted into a weird film which is based on the book. Audition is my favourite Edited July 21, 2023 by NorseChick 1
littlespace_cadet Posted January 4, 2024 Report Posted January 4, 2024 (edited) I'm a big horror fan, but my taste isn't for everyone. Here's a few recs: We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson - one of my favorite books. Short, haunting, and moody. Skullface Boy by Chad Lutzke - an unusual coming of age story that balances dark and light really well. I've liked everything I've read from him, and they usually have somewhat hopeful endings. Until the Sun by Chandler Morrison - this is a polarizing extreme horror author, but I think this book is an interesting take on vampires. Edited January 4, 2024 by littlespace_cadet Spelling error
beanbean Posted January 4, 2024 Report Posted January 4, 2024 Might be a different kind of dark but I enjoy Steinbeck for my dark books
Salmario Posted January 4, 2024 Report Posted January 4, 2024 Some might enjoy what's known as the Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake, consisting of Titus Groan Gormenghast Titus Alone 1
littlespace_cadet Posted January 4, 2024 Report Posted January 4, 2024 I just recently downloaded the Gormenghast Trilogy! I still need to read it, but this gives me some motivation to move it up on my TBR list. 1
