What are some of your favorites that you are recommending others to watch or read?

 

I start Overlord, Solo Levelling and Double Click

Most of the stuff I super like is old school. Stuff like Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, King of Bandit Jing... the more action based stuff!

I'm definitely open to suggestions on any newer Anime!

Porco Rosso was insanely good too!

About an old fighter pilot after ww1, who was coming to terms with his survivors guilt... if I remember correctly.

But some of the flight scenes were beautiful!

Hm, I do love a good deal of comedy, shojo/romance and ecchi titles, but some of my more neutral (?) recent faves:

~ Bungo Stray Dogs (love the reference to historical figures, and detectives)

~ Noragami (sucker for a good tale about a forgotten god; hoping to read the light novels soon)

~ Beyond the Boundary (old favorite, and I'm a fan of blood magic)

~ The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (another old fave, absurd and amazing)

~ Library Wars (I've read up to book 9 in the manga, they only did 1 season of the anime, but the concept is so great, and honestly a little too relevant these days in the US re: book banning, censorship, etc)

~ GoSick (for the victorian vibes and mysteries)

~ The Vampire Dies in No Time (pure comedy, slapstick, etc, I love this one for a mood boost)

~ The Daily Life of the Immortal King (uh, I LOVE this one! )

~ Black Clover (If you liked Naruto, you'd probably like this)

~ The Devil is a Part-Timer 

 

I have a pretty massive watchlist as well. I just finished the first volume of the 86 light novel, so that one is on my watchlist. Such a great story! I need to pick up more volumes soon. Always love hearing about new recommendations!

I HIGHLY recommend watching Clannad (and Clannad After Story which is the sequel. BEWARE OF INEVITABLE HEARTBREAK). I'm going to be honest here I haven't watched it in a long time but it was such a memorable part of my childhood. Like for me the story is so compelling (tw family issues) because at the start its about a boy in highschool who does everything he can to avoid going home because of his emotionally unavailable father which led the boy to resent him — and then the story evolves to like his experiences with other students, graduating and just navigating the adult world while also failing at the start to be a good dad to his daughter but he eventually works his way through breaking the cycle of abuse (he doesn't ever get physical its the neglectful form, much like his father). And its like a slice of life but also just so good at capturing the feeling of coming of age and what it means to change? And yeah its just so good like... top 10 shows and main characters for me its my dream to watch this with my future someone because its just so important to me 

Another one that I would recommend is Beastars (its also my pfp hehe)! There is the show available on netflix, though to be honest I prefer the manga because the anime omits/censors certain moments that I feel could affect your interpretation of the story. But anyways its based in an anthropomorphic society made up of carnivores and herbivores who struggle to coexist with eachother due to their instincts. The main character is also a high school boy, and he's a carnivore who is attracted to a herbivore student, however this causes him a surmountable amount of stress in his daily life because he has trouble figuring out if he's genuinely attracted to her or if he wants to devour her. Basically in this universe love and devouring are conflated/one in the same. I think that if you're queer you'll especially enjoy the story because there are a lot of queer allegories about struggling with self acceptance/battling heteronormative standards, comphet -- the whole messy queer experience! And its somehow really well encapsulated through anthropomorphic beings. 

My favourite character is Gouhin because he's a guy who masks just how deeply he cares through acting aggressive, but he's a guy with a big heart who cares a lot about the well being of carnivores that he went out of his way to run a rehabilitation centre for carnivores who have committed devouring(s) so that they can integrate back into society without living with the unresolved pain of what they've done. Also because he's daddy (pic of him down below) ♡

SORRY I WROTE A LOT but yeah these are two of the indeterminate amount of shows that have stuck with me thus far!
