the_trucking_pawpaw Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 (edited) So, for those of you who have viewed my profile you know I'm big into heavy metal. Fortunately, my father instilled a love for music of all kinds when we were kids. For the last few days I've been feeling nostalgic for music from before my brained was twisted by metal hahaha. Been listening to Classic Rewind on SXM almost 24/7 for 3 days! I forgot how many great rock songs came out of that era! There are love songs, heartbreak songs, fun songs and just generally groovy songs. So, I started making a Spotify Playlist of songs that I've heard. What I have on the list so far: Gimme All Your Lovin' - ZZ Top When You Close Your Eyes - Night Ranger Love Bites - Def Leppard American Girl - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers The Stroke -Billy Squire Against The Wind -Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band Caught Up In You - .38 Special I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide - ZZ Top Hold The Line -TOTO Keep On Lovin' You - REO Speedwagon Centerfold - The J. Geils Band Lovin' Every Minute Of It - Loverboy Dreams - Van Halen Let's Go - The Cars In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel I'd Do Anything For Love (But I won't Do that) - Meatloaf In The Dark - Billy Squire More Than A Feeling - Boston Let Me Take You Home Tonight - Boston Come Dancing - The Kinks Night Moves - Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band Dirty White Boy - Foreigner Let My Love Open The Door - Pete Townsend If you want to add to this, by all means. The mor I can the better haha Edited April 27 by the_trucking_pawpaw Added to topic 3 2
sheepie uwu Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 As a millennial metalhead, can confirm that Classic Rewind plays nothing but bangers. 1

Gen x metaljead and while I did grow up listening to a lot of the stuff on Classic rewind, in high school it was all Ozzys Boneyard type stuff...and a lot of Maiden, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Halloween, etc. Then, I kind gotta into stuff like Dead Kennedys later. Overall though I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to music. I like a lot of different stuff! 1

sheepie uwu Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Not me over here trying to figure out if you're a Dragula kinda metalhead or not, lmao. Excuse me kindly if you're not, but if you are, this cover's music video is absolutely hilarious: Spoiler I listen to a wide variety of modern metal and classics as far back as The Beatles, as well as non metal/hard/rock stuff, including the occasional classical piece. Because let's be so fr rn, Beethoven is just metal before electricity! And metalhead or not, I KTBSPA regularly, lol. 1

Grew up on country and top 40 because everything else was so inaccessible to us for a long time. I discovered metal and was instantly corrupted lol. I do listen to a lot of other stuff including limited rap, classical, bagpipes, American folk and bluegrass. Not a lot I don't like. My parents raised us on Beattles, The Who, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, etc. 1
sheepie uwu Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 We don't completely match musically, but we're definitely adjacent! There's definitely a time, place, mindset for bluegrass, folk, or bagpipes, but it's not something I'd seek out normally. No hate to them, of course. I'm also big on bubblegum/europop. Enjoy oldies (50s-60s rock and roll) every now and then, piano pieces, ambience, synthwave. I mean, there's too many genres to list! I mostly claim the metalhead title, simply because I listen it more regularly than other stuff. 1

I do love classic country (anything pre 2000) almost as much h as metal. But I also grew up on it. 1
the_trucking_pawpaw Posted May 5 Author Report Posted May 5 BTW I do love me some Rob Zombie/White Zombie. That video, so dumb it is funny🤣🤣🤣 1
sheepie uwu Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 I absolutely LOVE Little V's silliness. The pink mic and toy car paired with such a serious 80s leather goth outfit, is the exact definition of GOAT. lmao But I do actually like his covers as well. 1
sheepie uwu Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 *ahem* I'll just drop these here. You're welcome, lmfao Spoiler 1 1

JunleMaster Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 (edited) I sometimes throw on instrumental stuff when I paint or sketch, really helps me focus and stay mellow. If you're into mixing music with something creative, check out https://www.artmaster.com — they have some cool tools. Helped me come up with new ideas I hadn't thought of before. SaraSveet9218 Posted August 19 Report Posted August 19 Awesome playlist! Boston and Loverboy are absolute classics. I think Journey – Don’t Stop Believin’, Scorpions – Rock You Like a Hurricane, and Whitesnake – Here I Go Again would fit perfectly alongside your picks. Same timeless vibe. Have you ever added anything from Styx or Kansas? They’ve got that same big, emotional rock energy. 1
shadowrider Posted August 19 Report Posted August 19 Great list you have going. I'll add a few to mix it up a bit. Emotions in Motion ~ Billy Squire I Before E Except After C ~ Yazoo The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald ~ Gordon Lightfoot How Long ~ Ace New Orleans Ladies ~ LeRoux Cool Change ~ Little River Band Dream Weaver ~ Gary Wright Dust in the Wind ~ Kansas I'll Never Let You Go ~ Steelheart The Mans Too Strong ~ Dire Straits Darkness ~ Blackmore's Night I could go on for days but I'll cut it off here and just add one of my favorite cover/mixes since y'all mentioned bagpipes Spoiler 1 1
