Set 1 of questions

Spoiler

Question 1: In the first chapter our female lead very much insinuates that her unusual/violent tastes in the bedroom are a direct result of her job. Do you think this can happen or is common? Or does the job just trigger what a person already wants?

Answer: So I think a carrier or certain lifestyle can definetly spur TRYING more exotic/unusual things. But to delve deeper and have long term interest in something I think that's you arms a person.

Question 2: Our male lead talks a fair bit about his friend Tyler this chapter. Describing alot of his less admiral qualities but following it up with why he appreciates him as a friend. My question is do you think people who are "flawed" lean towards deeply imperfect friendships like we see here? Would you call this friendship healthy?

Answer: I think people who are flawed are either hyper aware of it in themselves and others or are completely in denial. So I think it depends on which type of flawed they are. I believe Josh recognizes Tyler's issues but also realizes that the qualities  That are important to him Tyler has. No one can be everything.

Question 3: Why is it, in your opinion, that some people desire to be watched and some are repulsed by the invasion of privacy? There are so many kinks and I am just curious as to what we think makes this one tick.

Answer: So I think people who like to be watched may find it arousing but on a deeper level I think it makes them feel safe and cherished. Others I think find the idea of giving that much power over to a person way too risky.

Question 4: So our stalker man claims that if she went to the cops or was really upset or such that he would have backed off and covered his tracks. What is your opinion on this? Would he have been able to? Is this how extreme obsessions that are uncontrollable start?

Answer: I think her going to the cops would have made him back off... for a while. I think he is joking himself if he thinks he could stop. This is incredibly aggressive stalking right off the bat. I truly believe he couldn't stop forever.

Question 5: Aly mentions wanting spicier time because lately she has been numb and not feeling much. So the spicier sex makes her feel again. Thoughts on this? Can it be safe and helpful to shock ourselves into feeling? And also how to you think our masked man would feel if he knew the reasons behind this?

Answer: I think this is extremely unhealthy and risky behavior. Power play is a deeply physical but more so a psychological thing. Numbness is not a good sign and I think trying to "fix it" via this kind of sex is just puting a bandage over a deep infection. Looks good and might feel better for a while, but it will still be your demise.

Question 6: What percentage of people today do you think would enjoy this extreme level of "play". More common in male or female? More common in certain generations or countries? Interesting to know we may pass people everyday that are imagining these extreme scenarios.

Answer: Once again I think many folks dabble, so maybe upwards of 50% of people have tried extreme play but I would guess less than 10% stick with the lifestyle. I think more reserved cultures make it hard to experiment but then that those who take the risk in those countries more often stick with it. I think alit of the nore extreme freaky peiple often dont show outward signs.

Question 7: In this stalker romance we are meeting the stalker as he is made rather than after he is 100% like in alot of books. How long do you think it takes for them to go full psycho? Do you think many start stalking and decide it isnt for them or do you think it is a slippery slope once started?

Answer: Hmmm I think I would say it takes 3ish victims and several years for someone to really develope their psycho side. But that would depend on how much freedom, of which Josh has alot, they have to develope this trait.

Question 8: Our favorite girl talks about having a SA victim and the perp in the hospital and talks about wanting to let the family accidently have access to the man who assaulted her and then references that it is essentially much further than she would have taken it last week. Do you think this is a risk when you get involved in this kind of extracurricular activities? That we would be less controlled, moral, and willing to go to lengths we would not before? If so do you think there is any way to keep the lack on control just in the bedroom?

Answer: Absolutely I think going too far is always a risk when you start something like this. Your inhibitions are lowered and things that used to be too far all of a sudden arnt far enough. But also I think it requires a sort of character flaw to take things too far in real life.

Question 9: In the car we see this almost domestic everyday interaction with the lunchbox. This question is for yall to guess. They seem happy and this is exciting now but we all know the third act breakup is coming. My question is what do you think it will be over? Any guesses on our couples future problems?

Answer: Hmmmm I think maybe Aly will be responsible. That she will take something wayyyy too far and Josh may be shocked and need some space.

Question 10: So our faceless man is very caring and nurturing here, even wondering at why he wants so badly to take care of Aly. We see this duality in BDSM type relationships alot. The desire to hurt to a certain extent, to frighten even, and then the urge to care for them as well. In your opinion what is the explanation behind these conflicting desires?

Answer: I think that alot of times this stems from trauma. That they have seen this pattern of causing pain and then soothing the wound. They think this is what represents love and that this excitement is the only way a true relationship works.

Spoiler

Question 11: Alright so I think we all already assessed our guys friendship with Tyler and found it to maybe not be the healthiest. Thoughts on the fact that even Josh was suprised by the fact he has been screening the people he brings home for knowing about Josh's criminal Dad? We know he loves him dearly so do you think subconsciously he knew Tyler was capable of this sort of kindness? Does it change any of your initial thoughts? Any guesses on Tyler's involvement in Josh's life moving forward?

Amswer: I think often when we have known folks for a while we fail to see them changing for better or worse. Josh has known Tyler a very long time and he sounded kinda self centered as a teen. So it may not be surprising that Josh maybe didnt notice that over the years Tyler has done some growing as a person. I am thinking maybe Tyler will be put in danger at some point possibly.

Question 12: Let's explore Josh's father for a second. We know by now that his father has done some pretty aweful things and that Josh is desperate to not be like him. My question is, is he really? I mean he says he wants to avoid, even going so far as to never touch an animal prior to Alys cat, but we see him gleeful about "stalking and games of deception being so much godamn fun" as he puts it. What do you think this says about him now and about his future self? Any thoughts on whether or not being a monster is transferable? Could this actually be healing him and avoiding future twists in his nature?

Amswer: I think Josh is desperate to be different from his Dad but I also think maybe he doesn't realize how slippery of a slope it is that he is traveling. On the other side of the coin I think it can be healing to walk up to the proverbial line and not cross it. So maybe he is healing the best way possible. I think being a monster for sure has a transferable property if not a genetic one.

Question 13: So in chapter 11 Aly states she knows Josh is the Faceless Man. Do you think this is realistic? What do YOU think tipped her off? And as a self reflection do you think you would know in her place? Bonus points if you have any ideas on what Josh could have done better to throw her off.

Answer: Hmmmm so I think for sure Josh was pretty nieve to think she wouldn't recognize him. I mean just being 6 foot something puts him in the top 10% of men and that isnt even factoring in his way of moving and talking and such. I dont think anything Josh could have done would have thrown her off once she actually met him and his alter ego.

Question 14: So in our book our people are HOT. Like physically attractive, it is mentioned many times that they dont just find eachother attractive but are objectively hot. Do you think their "arrangement" only works because of that? Do you think there is a possible correlation between extreme looks and extreme play? Confidence and such seems a key component. Or do you think this is just how the romance book world plays out?

Amswer: 100% I think pretty people get a pass for being freaky. I think looks put folks at ease and I think this story would be very different if Josh was a traditionally unattractive person. Confidence in stalking often just comes across as creepy if you dont look like a god like Josh.

Question 15: Here we see our masked man hesitating on annialating our girl in bed and instead making her breakfast. We are seeing that this is already much much more than sex for him. When do you think that happened exactly because this is early in a mostly sexual based relationship? Also do you think our female lead harbors the same extra feelings or is it just physical for her at this point?

Answer: I think it was a love at first sight thing. The sexual may have hit immediately harder but I think something in who she is calls to him.

Here are yalls final set of questions!!! Bittersweet

@Aikko @littlegala @SquirtleSquad

Question 27: Do you find Alys bossy, rude, and aggressive nature with Uncle Nico arrogant? I mean he is a mafia boss known for killing folks and her parents were terrified of him she said.

Here are all my questions answered 🙂

Spoiler

Question 1: In the first chapter our female lead very much insinuates that her unusual/violent tastes in the bedroom are a direct result of her job. Do you think this can happen or is common? Or does the job just trigger what a person already wants?

~This is a tough question for me. In my opinion it could happen, especially if you have no idea you’re interested in something you experience at work. However I feel like the lead character did know she had interest in it. She’s just seems to be in denial about it due to the stigma behind enjoying unconventional kinks. Ultimately I believe the job triggered an interest that was already inside her to begin with.

~I feel like people who struggle tend to gravitate more towards others who also have those struggles or in the least understand them. It’s could be healthy, though I don’t think this specific one will be.

Question 3: Why is it, in your opinion, that some people desire to be watched and some are repulsed by the invasion of privacy? There are so many kinks and I am just curious as to what we think makes this one tick.

~I would guess because society for a long time has instilled in us that sexual acts are something that should be intimate and private. On the other side of that, the taboo can make it exhilarating to partake in such things in public spaces where others will see.

Question 4: So our stalker man claims that if she went to the cops or was really upset or such that he would have backed off and covered his tracks. What is your opinion on this? Would he have been able to? Is this how extreme obsessions that are uncontrollable start?

~I think he would have backed off, I personally get the sense that he has genuine care for her underneath it all. Which would help drive him to do the right thing by her. I’m not sure how uncontrollable obsession start 🤔

~My thoughts are that this could be dangerous if taken too far. I don’t believe sex should be used to make you ‘feel’ things again when you’ve gone numb. I do think he would have enjoyed knowing that’s what she was thinking though.

Question 6: What percentage of people today do you think would enjoy this extreme level of "play". More common in male or female? More common in certain generations or countries? Interesting to know we may pass people everyday that are imagining these extreme scenarios.

~I think it’s probably higher than we’d guess. Especially because there people that would could want it, and be hiding it/ be in denial about it. Or even not know it’s an option so no know they enjoy it yet. I don’t think there’s a specific gender, age, or nationality that is more extreme in their sex. I think you can find it everywhere if you know where to look.

Question 7: In this stalker romance we are meeting the stalker as he is made rather than after he is 100% like in alot of books. How long do you think it takes for them to go full psycho? Do you think many start stalking and decide it isnt for them or do you think it is a slippery slope once started?

~I imagine the full psycho part comes when the person they are stalking has no interest in the delusion. I don’t think it’ll happen in this story, but in most cases it can vary how long that takes. I feel like most stalkers don’t make themselves as known as Josh does. So it takes long for the person to realize they have a stalker. It definitely seems like a slippery slope!

~I don’t think the kink she has is what makes her feel that way, I think she would have wanted to leave them alone with the perp regardless.

Question 9: In the car we see this almost domestic everyday interaction with the lunchbox. This question is for yall to guess. They seem happy and this is exciting now but we all know the third act breakup is coming. My question is what do you think it will be over? Any guesses on our couples future problems?

~I feel like if they have a fight it’ll be about the fact that he’s fine with watching her literally whenever. This might be exciting for her at first, but I see it getting old. Her wanting to not be stalked all the time by him anymore.

~I believe it’s very much possible to be a nurturing caregiver, as well as a sadist. Especially when you understand that for some the pain fuels the pleasure they feel, multiplying it.

~I’m still not convinced about Tyler yet, I want to like him. I just don’t.  The vibes off for me, it didn’t feel like him screening people was a considerate thing. It felt more a bit spiteful, as if holding it against Josh in a way.  He seems self centered. It’s clear Josh knows that, and has accepted it. So likely they continue to be friends. Unless Tyler see his dark side, then likely his disapproval thus ends their friendship.

~In my opinion Josh is genuine about not wanting to be like his dad. His thoughts deterring him from being like his father alone show me he’s not only conscious of it, but also actively working toward it. Where as other might choose to just use it as an excuse to be like their parent. I believe this says that there’s a person for everyone out there that might balance us, while uplifting us to help us be better.

Question 13: So in chapter 11 Aly states she knows Josh is the Faceless Man. Do you think this is realistic? What do YOU think tipped her off? And as a self reflection do you think you would know in her place? Bonus points if you have any ideas on what Josh could have done better to throw her off.

~I don’t think it’s very realistic, yeah some people smell a specific kind of way. Or even carry themselves in a distinct way. She made it seem that without a smell/ sound/ or distinct give away, her gut just knew. I just don’t think that’s real life. I consider myself a very observant person, so I believe I’d have figured out who it was. Though if they were extra and changed their smell, sound and even gait. I’m sure the faceless man could stump anyone.

~I don’t think there is a correlation, I think this is just the circumstances for this book specifically. I wouldn’t say extreme play is only done by extremely attractive people. I believe confidence comes from within. Having a strong sense of self and projecting it. It doesn’t always come from look, I think that’s just most common. I’d say intelligence can also create a strong sense of self, which leads to being confident.

~I’d say it happened when Josh realized that Aly finds pleasure in the same unique niche way he does. Only to deepen with more and more acceptance from Aly. It’s still early for Aly, I’d say that she’s falling but not quite at the same level as Josh yet. Which, in my mind, makes sense. Josh has had more time  for his feelings to grow for her, while she didn’t even know who he was.

Question 16: So here we have some INTENSE play where Aly admits to feeling fear and excitement. In your own words what do you think are the key differences in this play and true fear of a stalker? What makes it real enough to scare but not to terrify?

~I’d say the difference is there’s not as real of a risk. There is still a risk, don’t get me wrong. Even leaving our houses each day has some variety of risk. However if it were a real stalker, there’s so many factors that add up to a way higher risk. I think the amount of trust it requires makes it enough to scare. That trust also adds a level of security, so it not terrifying.

Question 17:  In the hospital we meet our horrible horrible rapist. I have a couple questions on him. She talks about his eyes, about the dead and creepy alive at the same time look. Do you think this kind of monster is made or born? And at the end of the day since legal means havnt worked, do you think vigilante justice is justice at all?

~I’d think made, often shaped through being brought up by or in certain environments. There may be some who start with a inner monster. I don’t believer this level of monster is where one would begin though. I’d say it escalates to that level.

Question 18: Josh has made several comments by now about enjoying Aly being the somewhat dominant one even saying he would like her to tie him up and that it is a bit unusual for him. Do you think that when Doms are in love they enjoy everything they may not normally? Or is this just Josh discovering another side of himself?

~It seems that love brings out an effect of creating joy between people. One that can change how it feels to do things you have or haven’t done before with anyone else. I think Aly brings out the best in Josh. Makes him feel he’s safe and can be himself.

Question 19: Josh seems very affected, even physically ill, over an accidental murdering. Are you suprised after all the bravado talk? Thpughtz on his reaction compared to Alys?

~This really proves that thinking about something and doing it are completely different beasts. For Josh to have to realize he’s gonna have to live with the burden of having killed, his reaction was fitting. I think Aly is a problem solver and her job makes her even more so. Which really explained her reaction.

Question 20: So Aly says she wasnt affected by the death of Brad because she "sees death all the time" do you think this is normal for someone in her profession? Or may Aly be more messed up that Josh? Any guesses if she will get less in control as the book goes on?

~I do think that is a normal coping mechanism in her profession. I would t say compartmentalizing make her more messed up. I have to imagine it takes a certain level of professional detachment to do a job like that. I don’t think she with get less in control.

Question 21: Would you have brought Brad's body to Uncle Nico? If not what would you have done instead (feel free to use all your true crime knowledge 🤣)

~I definitely would have. Why not take advantage of your resources? Seems silly 🤷🏻‍♀️

Question 22: So once again a question about our gal Aly. She helps kills someone, has knife sex, has mafia family, and still seems the most thrown by hearing Josh has a serial killer father. Thoughts on this?

~Perspective is huge. What one person is raised to believe is ‘normal’ isn’t always what another is brought up to believe. In this case Josh is unique not that many people can say that their parent was a serial killer. Where as maybe mafia family’s are a little more common. Or at least more talked about.

Question 23: Aly jokes about how she would stalk Josh now if he tried to leave. What do you think would happen in reality if Josh changed his mind?

~I think she would follow through on her stalking claims 😂

Question 24: Of all the things Uncle Nico could ask for, why do you think he picked dinner with Aly once a month?

~He misses having her in his life, especially seeing who she’s become now. I think he’s proud of her and wants to see her grow more.

Question 25: In this scene we have Brad's parents also showing up at his house, obviously trying to cover his tracks. How lomg do you think they both have known about what their son is? Was it a conscious decision to work together to keep a monster free?

~Probably since the first time, he doesn’t seem like someone to hide parts of himself from his parents. I’m sure it was a conscious decision, either out of delusion that he wasn’t a monster or out of selfishness and wanting to keep him with them.

Question 26: Aly is frantic to know the details of how Uncle Nico took care of their problem. Do you think it is smart for her to dig and find out or are things better off this way?

~I think some people find peace in a deeper understanding or more information. Aly seems to be one of those. I think it’ll bother her if she doesn’t know. She just seems like one of those.

Question 26: There is a funny little conversation here where Aly tries to convince Josh that people stare not out of recognition for his father but instead because he is super hot. Do ypu think it's possible for someone on that extreme end of the looks scale to not know it?

~I definitely think it’s possible, there lots of people oblivious to obvious things.

Question 27: Do you find Alys bossy, rude, and aggressive nature with Uncle Nico arrogant? I mean he is a mafia boss known for killing folks and her parents were terrified of him she said.

~I think we don’t know the full history and why she feels the need to treat him like that. I’d give her the benefit of the doubt. He could be a bad person.

Question 28: Why does Uncle Nico seem soo obsessed with keeping Aly as family and essentially puting up with her shit? Does it seem strange that he would act like this towards someone he didnt really know her whole life?

~It’s not so strange if you think of it from a perspective of he feels like he’s missed out. Now he regrets it and wants to do something to change it before he no longer can.
