I love having fun ways to be active and since I also love being little, I use cute songs and rhymes to do my Yoga... here's a few! I'll add more as I think of them!

Humpty Dumpty

Sit criss cross on the floor, back straight hands on your knees. Have enough space to lay down on your back with your legs stretched out in front of you.

Start swaying left to right gently. Take several slow deep breaths.

Sing very slowly while rocking left to right in rhythm to your singing...

🎵Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall🎵

Take 3 deep breaths, in through your nose, out slowly through your mouth

Sing very slowly while rocking left to right in rhythm to your singing...

🎵 Humpty Dumpty had a great fall🎵

As you sing fall, slowly tip over backwards and stretch out flat on your back with your legs straight. Place your hands on your tummy and take 3 deep breaths, in through your nose, out slowly through your mouth

Sing very slowly while lifting one knee to the opposite elbow and switching slowly.

🎵All the kings horses🎵 one knee/elbow touch

🎵 and all the Kings men🎵 second knee/elbow touch

🎵couldn't put Humpty🎵 third knee/elbow touch

🎵 together again🎵 fourth knee/elbow touch

Stretch out flat, place your hands on your tummy and take 3 deep breaths, in through your nose, out slowly through your mouth.

Slowly return to your original seated position, criss cross legs, hands on knees, tall, straight back, 3 more deep breaths.

Here's a fun one I act out with my students, but sometimes I "practice" at home just coz it's fun!

Little Miss Muffet

Little Miss Muffet who sat on that tuffet (a small stool)...

eating her curds and whey (a bowl and spoon)...

along comes a spider (giant beanie one)...

who sat beside her (I drop the spider next to me on the floor)...

And frightened Miss Muffet away! (I jump up and scream "Ahhhh" dropping the bowl and spoon and run across the room!)

I never thought of incorporating rhymes into Yoga poses like that. 💖 Brilliant! 😊

I have sooo many more, but my computer needs to charge and I use one finger to text on my phone coz my hands have arthritis, abd everywhere else too...

Motion is lotion so the more I move my joints in healthy ways like yoga, the better I feel and rhymes make yoga much more fun!

I have some time... soooo here's another one finally!

Hickory Dickory Dock

Start by sitting with your legs stretched straight on the floor and your hands resting in your thighs. Take a few deep breaths to relax your body. Reach forward and touch your toes (or as ankles/lower legs if that's the best your body can do). Remember this is fun, not about doing it perfectly!

There's 4 rounds of this, pick which order you want to move your hands, starting at your toes and moving to stretch above your head with your palms touching.  Here are some choices: walk your fingers, squeeze your legs and body, slide hands back and forth one to two inches at a time, moving up your body, pat your legs, circle motions with fingers, all the same motion.

Here's the rhyme

Round one- pick a hand motion.

🎶Hickory Dickory Dock

The mouse ran up the clock.

The clock struck one. 🎶

(Hands together above head, palms touching. Clap once.)

🎶And the mouse ran down.🎶

(Rapidly lower hands to lap).

🎶Hickory dickory dock.🎶

Round 2 - pick a different hand motion

🎶Hickory Dickory Dock

The mouse ran up the clock.

The clock struck two. 🎶

(Hands together above head, palms touching. Clap twice.)

🎶And down he flew.🎶

(Rapidly lower hands to lap).

🎶Hickory dickory dock.🎶

Round 3 - pick a different hand motion or repeat the first.

🎶Hickory Dickory Dock

The mouse ran up the clock.

The clock struck three. 🎶

(Hands together above head, palms touching. Clap three times.)

🎶And the mouse saud, "Wee."🎶

(Rapidly lower hands to lap).

🎶Hickory dickory dock.🎶

Round 4 - pick a new hand movement or repeat the 2nd one.

🎶Hickory Dickory Dock

The mouse ran up the clock.

The clock struck 4. 🎶

(Hands together above head, palms touching. Clap four times.)

🎶And the mouse said, "no more."🎶

(Slow lower hands to lap).

🎶Hickory dickory dock.🎶

Take 3 slow deep breaths

Row, Row, Row your Boat

Sit on the floor with legs stretched straight or criss cross applesauce.  Hold your arms out to the side as if you are rowing a boat. Start rocking forward and backward slowly, in time to your rowing. Breath deeply while you rock and row... 🤭

There are many versions of this song/rhyme. I'll listen a few I can think of off the top of my head.

🎶Row, Row, Row your boat

Gentle down the stream

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily

Life is but a dream.🎶

🎶Row, Row, Row your boat

Gentle down to the shore,

If you see a crocodile

Don't forget to roar.🎶

(Hold up hands by mouth and roar)

🎶Row, Row, Row your boat

Gentle up the river.

If you see a polar bear

Don't forget to shiver🎶

(Wrap your arms around yourself and pretend to shiver)

🎶Row, Row, Row your boat

Gentle across the puddle

If you see a little mouse

Give her a little cuddle.🎶

(Pretend to cuddle a stuffie)

🎶Row, Row, Row your boat

Gentle down the stream

If you see a dinosaur

Don't forget to scream!🎶

(Put your hands over your mouth and pretend to scream)
