TLDR: i don’t know how to be 100% sure that the career path i want to take is rlly what i want to do.

after workin in a specific medical field for 1.5 yrs, i decided it wasn’t for me . sounds a bit fast, i know . but i know that when i do not like smthn, it will not work out .

where i live, that job technically does not require any higher education but is strongly encouraged and to be licensed . i went to school on a grant, was rlly enjoyin my job during and after . but after abt 1 yr, i realized that was not what i wanted to do for the rest of my life .

i ended up goin back to the service industry, same job i hd before the medical field and i hv a love/hate relationship w it . ik that it is absolutely temporary and that i want to do smthn else w my life .

my two dream careers would be esthetician and nail technician, two things ive been rlly interested in for yrs . but idk if either is rlly the right path for me . i dont want to go thru all the time, money, and schooling just to end up hating it like my last job .

anyone hv tips for me ? kind of a broad question but ig i jus need some guidance or advice from ppl who hv hd similar struggles !!!

Sometimes there just is no way to tell. Personally, I went University for biochemistry, switched ot psychology, then studied person administration with a major in accounting.

Over my twenty year career to date I've been a passport officer, tax auditor, adult learning coordinator, facilitator, policy analyst, recruitment advisor, curriculum developer, staffing officer, office manager for a DG, AREI advisor, team lead, professional public speaker, crisis counselor, manager, strategic advisor, change management practitioner and currently associate director.

I never focused on what I wanted to do in terms of a job. Instead I focused on my core values and passions which are centered around helping people, solving complex problems and strategic vision.

Looking back now I can see where my education synergies well, not with jobs I did, but with what I valued and with what motivated me. Sometimes the right path can't be seen until we hike different paths and look back at the journey from atop the mountain.
