So much to be thankful for today! My family and I are safe.  My community was hit Monday night with a severe storm. We had 90 - 100 mph winds. Giant trees, 100 year old beautiful, strong guardians were uprooted or ripped apart! The parks were devastated and the ones that weren't are being used to haul the cut up branches.  A few homes and businesses were damaged. We lost a dew grain bins... guant ones that will need to be replaced by harvest... We lost power, some people a few hours, some days. Nearby communities had tornadoes.

Tuesday night the rains came down... horribly and heavily... the rivers flooded,  basements flooded, homes with holes in the roof or walls, flooded. We woke the next morning and once again worked together to help each other clean up, but Wednesday was more rain. It's been raining off and on all week... today again rain is predicted all day. Not the heavy rains, but we don't need more right now.

July - September corn grows. Then the corn sweats and we have horrible storms... this is our normal, but it hasn't been this severe in a really long time.

It hurts my heart to see the devastation. But I am thankful, no one was hurt during the storms or during the cleanup efforts, which are still ongoing. I am thankful we are working together as a community to clean up the mess and not leaving people to their own resources.  I would be lost if I ever had to use a chainsaw, but I'll gladly chase children or make food for the people using the chainsaws!

We all have our unique gifts, strengths, abilities and weaknesses. By admitting to our weaknesses and leaning into our strengths we are able to build a stronger community!

So glad you and your family are okay and everyone else. Nature is an amazing yet destructive creature at times. All the best to rebuilding!

Glad you made it through safe. Hopefully no more devastating storms like that. I'm happy to hear everyone is pulling together to help each other. May the clean up and rebuilding go smooth and happen quickly.

@Little Nyx

Thanks for your supportive words... more storms are predicted for this week. I went swimming with my daycare kiddos today and the pool is safe, but there's leaves all ove the bottom of the pool... they can't keep them out with all the wind... and most of the chairs were broken... the water was freezing!

Find the positive... the water was clean! We were able to swim! The roads are clear and we are safe! So thankful for today! And thankful I have a job that let's me go swimming with kids! (Like really! They pay me to go swimming...and pay my fee for the pool! Sooo cool to work with kids! Love my career!)
