Princess snuggles Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 A out loud thought ðŸ’: Do you believe in destiny? I day dream a lot and I hope for things, I make wishes and ask the stars questions. However, do you believe we have a destiny, or we make our own? Does our destiny have to be one thing. I wished to be a teacher and I am. I've wished for love and I've felt it but never enough to be allowed to be my full self, to be accepted how I come. So where do I fit? If we do each have a destiny and it's only one thing does that mean I'm only suppose to be a teacher. Will I ever get the other parts, the part that's longs to be accepted, completely? Or am I suppose to be happy with what I have. However, I am. I love what I do, and I have a good life. I'm happy, I've struggled and fought to get here but I'm here and that's amazing, and I'm so happy with where I am. But can we have all the dreams, my dream career (which I have) but also someone who loves and accepts me, even when I irritated them. I'm happy and I guess for a long time this is all I could imagine my happy ever after being. But what comes after?  Do you believe we can have all the dreams, or do we have to choose? Do you believe in Destiny? If you do, do you believe it predetermined or we create it? And if you want to share I'd love to hear other peoples dreams. 1
littlemoonbeam Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 @Princess snuggles I don't believe in a destiny or fate that is set in stone or unmovable. When I think about destiny, I like to imagine it as something that unfolds as time passes. As we make choices and those choices take us on different paths. If you consider the theory that multiple dimensions are occurring at once and that time is just an illusion (which can be an overstimulating notion), it might empower you to know that you do not have to belong to one story arc or one specific role for the rest of your life. As we get older and as life changes us, we as people change, so to me, it wouldn't make sense for that destiny to remain stagnant. The only constant is change. But, when it comes to knowing what your purpose is in life, or your higher calling, I think that it doesn't have to be directly related to your career or work. It can be, and that would be a lovely goal to aim for, but it doesn't have to be. You love teaching, and that is amazing! Work should be something that you love doing! But in the way that I like to see it, your calling could be to share a very specific talent, ideology, or passion with others, and that can be achieved by many more lenses than just teaching! Someone with the same calling could be a life coach or a therapist. Or even a chef! I also believe you can share these talents or your calling outside of work, maybe in the way you care for family, in your own relationship dynamic, and in any hobbies you might have. I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🌌🌸  1
LuckyLilac Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 I think it's human nature to always find something else to want, and I think that's a good thing, maybe it helps keep us going. Sometimes some of our dreams can become out of reach, or turn out not to be what you wanted or needed. At one point my only real dream was to have a body I didn't hate, and I got that about a decade ago. I doesn't seem like I'll ever be able to work. Two opposite reasons for my mind to find something new to dream of. And no, I don't believe in destiny. I think that would be terrifying, being locked into just one path for life. 2
Princess snuggles Posted August 14 Author Report Posted August 14 Hi @littlemoonbeam and @LuckyLilac, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and beliefs on this I loved hearing them. I'm not necessarily sad, it was more of a thought, I wanted to share and get other people's perspectives on. I personally do believe in destiny but similarly to littlemoonbeam explained, I see it as something evolving that we stir, and create. I also think anything and everything can be destiny, I talk about my career, I'm a teacher specialised in supporting children with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) but that desire, drive and passion came from my own experiences being let down by the education system as a child because I was ND. But I agree that it can evolve and I think dreaming is always important and once you complete part of your dream it evolves or changes. I also strongly believe we can get our dreams but sometimes I think our dreams aren't always what we think they are. For example, I dreamed about being likeable for years but actually I know think my real dream was for me to like myself, which I didn't understand at the time. However, now I do like myself I can understand that. I don't know but I find it fascinating and I love hearing opinions on this type of topic. 1
SaltyChindit Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 It's a funny one for me. There are those little 'butterfly effect' moments in most people's lives that send them on a different path or help them on the path they wanted. At the age of sixteen I had a good idea of what I wanted to do, after a few years of working towards that in a slightly unorthodox way realised that wasn't the career path for me and ended up picking up a local paper from a news tout. I only passed by him because I had a bit of change in my pocket and the spot I wanted to get lunch from was closed. I've fallen into a role I very much enjoy and while I'm good at my job I wouldn't get paid as much for my skillset elsewhere. 2
Lil_K47 Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 I think I believe more in fate than Destiny. There were so many things that I wanted to be growing up and honestly a nurse wasn't at the top of my list, that's what I ended up being! I wanted to be an astrologer, I wanted to be a marine biologist, I wanted to be a social worker, but as I tried different classes and activities, I figured out what I liked m, and I made new, different choices for myself. I think as we grow and mature and make new and different decisions, those change our path and can change our life, and who knows maybe that was what fate intended after all? I kind of think we always eventually end up where we're meant to be..  1
