yeahokaysure Posted August 16 Report Posted August 16 I used to get this a lot when I was younger. I was not healthy in general and fairly small as a child so I would curl up in the foot well of the back seat. That isn't practical for you now but what I learned is that the quiet and dark helped. I still get it if I am a passenger in a car so if I have to travel long distances I will bring earbuds simply to block out noise (it also helps to prevent people from talking to you since they think you are listening to something 😄 .) One other trick is to get some nice smelling lip balm so that that is what you mostly smell instead of whatever is yucky. Those things have worked for me in the past and hopefully they might help you too! 1

SweetLittleDreamer Posted August 17 Report Posted August 17 I get bad carsick to. Stop start traffic & winding roads are my kryptonite. I try to drive as much as I can (though even driving doesn’t help if it’s stop start traffic) but, other ways I reduce the chance or severity of it is if I am not the driver I still suggest my car is taken (that way I’m at least in the front… my car my but is in one of the front seats!). I don’t read or look at screens, I have a window slightly down to allow fresh air in. If it’s a long drive I take regular breaks. I avoid eating or drinking to much before leaving (if there’s a set time I’m/we are leaving (doesn’t stop it but greatly brings down the risk of throwing up). And when all else fails I complain about to anyone in the car with me because if I’m suffering so are they!! 1
BabyPoppy Posted August 17 Report Posted August 17 I struggled as a kid and still do with motion sickness... especially on longer rides, and anything with altitude changes... I use allergy meds to help and lotsa water to drink while driving. I try to take frequent stops to walk around and get fresh air. I also try to eat smaller, healthy, more frequent meals to help me avoid nausea. I also plan time to rest after traveling extended periods of time and take time to relax before sleeping. 1

This is funny lol🤣🤣🤣 You can try getting Dramamine from the pharmacy or chemist depending on where you are at. There are pressure point bands that you can get to go on your wrist to help with motion sickness. You can try sipping on ginger ale, or ginger beer depending on where you're from You can try breathing techniques to help Closing your eyes until you reach the destination And sometimes listening to music and meditating can help as well If it gets too bad make sure you talk to your doctor to see if they can prescribe you medicine for going on trips to keep you from getting sick 1

Including doctors! Plus ginger beer is super yummy!
