MissAnna Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Hello all you beautiful amazing wonderful people on here! I hope all of you are having amazing fun adventures and making new memories. I wanted to come on here because I need ideas, I'm having treatment next Thursday and I would absolutely love some fun ideas I can do for four hours. Mind you I'm going to be sitting in a chair for four hours watching the clock go by but I would absolutely love some fun ideas of what I can do while I wait. Now I am definitely going to bring my giant quilted purse so I can stuff coloring items in there plus maybe a stuffy? Does anyone have any fun ideas they can think of? And no idea is a bad idea, unless it's me eating a bunch of candy then you know who will say no lol I absolutely can't think of any and I really don't want to read for four hours because my mind is going to be all over the place lol Thank you for being here with me on my journey in this crazy life. I wont lie I'm scared, that's why I am trying to think of fun ideas to do while I sit there. I've already asked the doctors if I could have a dance party he said no lol what a spoil sport Life is so short to stand in the background of your story, be the main character in every chapter. Until next time remember you matter, you are loved and you are worthy of being loved 2 1
.คℓ𝐞メเᏰααα .ᐟ Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago I do a lot of in/out patient stuff as I'm chronically ill/disabled. I typically only bring my phone and a stuffed animal. I have an unlimited data plan, so I can internet while waiting. That and some of the doll apps I play need internet connection. This keeps me busy, but not in an intrusive manner for when staff comes in. If you don't have an unlimited data plan, maybe save some data for appointments? I don't really have any other kinds of activities to do as suggestions. I just know that I don't like fumbling around with stuff when they finally do come in. But my phone can be easily put away. I hope your appointment goes well and that treatment has positive results! 1 2

I do have an unlimited plan, and no idea is a bad idea I will definitely have to look into these doll apps They told me to bring things to keep me occupied because of the chemo treatments can take awhile, so definitely will look into some fun apps I'm glad you get to bring your stuffy with you, I've never brought one before but I'm going to this time Thank you for your fun ideas and for the warm wishes 1
shadowrider Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago My best advice is have them slip some benadryl or something like that in right before the treatment starts. You will generally sleep through the treatment and be ready to go home when they wake you. Then as soon as you leave go eat whatever sounds good and filling. You may not want to eat that evening. Prayers for an easy treatment and no side effects. 1 2
Lil_K47 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago take your crochet supplies, get a head start on fall and Christmas projects. 1 2

So eating things you normally don't crave or eat at all can be a good idea also. That way you won't miss them when you no longer want them. And meal shakes that get you all your vitamins and daily goodness can be a good way to keep nutrition up. Carnation or maybe something from GNC that has all your needed nutrients. And frozen they are like a milkshake, kinda. 1 2

I was using protein shakes but they seem to upset my stomach and make me feel nauseated afterwards. I have been making myself go on two mile walks on my day off when it's cooler. I'm trying to keep myself moving and going so that I don't let this take a toll on me mentally. I can't express how much this site has meant to me during this journey I'm on. Thank you Shadow seriously for making such a safe place for all of us on here. I've always felt like a misfit in life and this has been such a beautiful place to call home 1 1

I usually wake up enough to join chat around 10am EST, usually take a walk break at around 2 (generally around 20min) and then a diner break a little after 5 (about 1 hr), 1 2

I've always felt like a misfit in life and this has been such a beautiful place to call home Protein shakes can be a bit much on the stomach even when you're body isn't being stressed by chemicals. Walking or just being outside in fresh air is always a good idea, especially when going through something like this. We are happy you found your way home. And I think most of us that are being truly honest have felt like misfits at some point. Some of us can definitely relate more to the toys on the island of misfits than the reindeer and elves that seemed to have it all together. 1 3

I have always felt that the land of misfits is my home And I will have to keep that in mind about the protein shakes because the docs I work with are wrong they do hurt my tummy Thank you shadow you have no idea how wonderful it is to be surrounded by people who don't mind my positive happy attitude instead of being cruel to me because I am always happy and I want to help others This has truly been a beautiful home for me 1 1

-Soul- Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago All awesome answers, either way Miss Anna you have a family here right behind you rooting for you 💙 1 1
Cranius Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago I've never minded some YouTube or a good movie on your phone. If they allow snacks during it, maybe bring some goldfish for during/afterward? You can pair this with a stuffed animal for a little movie time! 1 2

I can't eat during my visit but a movie with Mr grumpy bear would be nice
MissNMTX Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago (edited) The number one thing I could say is bring things to make you comfortable. From what I know the meds can do a number one your body temperature, Hot or cold. So I'd say pillow, blanket. I've heard fuzzy socks are a must! Definitely your favorite stuffies, even better if it's weighed or has lavender ( I still have to get one of those) just get comfy and kick back and watch a movie or listen to music. Music would be a must for me! So impactful on your mindset! Maybe make a special playlist? I've seen before where patients will play cards together. Depending on how the room is set up. I've heard that the patients that are always together can form great support group bonds. The most important thing is whatever you do, do things that help your mind. Sleep, hydration, meditation/ prayer. Do whatever keeps you comfortable and positive. Know you have people behind you. Edited 16 hours ago by MissNMTX 1 1
MissNMTX Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago @MissAnna How are you with oils/aromatherapy? There are lots of little tricks. Also, I don't know about KY, but we have both medical and recreational cannabis here. I don't partake, but if you thought it would help in any way?

I'm not sure how the rooms will be yet, and I love the smell of peppermint oils. We have medical cannabis but I can't use it because of my allergies. My faith and prayer is a big part of who I am, and I bought a special water bottle just for that day. Thank you @MissNMTX you have no idea how nice it is to have people behind me and not having to be alone 1
MissNMTX Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago I'm going to harp on my favorite subject again, because I just thought about it! Maybe journaling or some sort of creative writing/scrapbooking could be helpful also.
