DaddysCosmicBunny Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 Nocticadia Questionnaire Number of Stars (1-5): 3.5 ⭐ Based on the intro of the novel, I thought it was leading to being a paranormal read. I was a smidge disappointed it wasn't. Another thing was the science lingo 😵💫 I did not feel smart enough to fully understand, but I definitely got the importance of it. Lastly was the professor/student trope. It's not one of my well-liked so the back and forth between them in the beginning was a bit of an ick. It faded away after Lilia became a research partner. Aside from that, I really like the mystery of the b-plot and I feel it all tied together amazingly. Favorite Main and Minor Characters: Devryk would be my favorite main character. He was snarky and easily irritated by other characters to my liking. Spencer would be my second favorite because I feel so bad for his character. He was a scapegoat for nearly everyone and he was genuinely trying to be a good guy. 🥲 Favorite Quote: I wish I had one, but nothing comes to mind. If I'm allowed to swap this for a favorite scene, I'd say Angelo's punishment. I'm glad they did not go easy on him. 👿 If this book were a fancy drink what would it be: I don't really know. With the cover as inspiration and the contents of the book, I feel something with a midnight blue coloring to it. Kind of like contrast of the black butterflies with the blue hue in the pics we made earlier. 🦋Also, something mixed with vodka definitely feels appropriate. What does your imagined furniture for our main couple look like: Given the setting, old academic and old money type furniture. Something that is gothic and antique and definitely dark. It would have a scholarly feel to it. I'm thinking like a grandpa's old study with large wood bookshelves and Edwardian desk and chairs. 🧐 Colors would be deep greens, blues, with some browns. Tell us one thing that suprised you about the book: Definitely finding out who actually had beat up Spencer. For a while, I thought Devryk was bluffing about not doing it. Then, who really drugged Lilia. I really thought it was Spencer. 🥲 Another thing was the affair between Spencer's dad and Mel. Like, ew. 🤢 Did you enjoy this read? Will you join the next one and if so what things would you like to see? I did enjoy this read! Depending on the next pick, I might join again. Something fantasy or paranormal would be fun, but not mandatory. 1

Thank you for joining me again you are a joy to have. Spoiler Nocticadia Questionnaire Number of Stars (1-5) - 3 Stars Favorite Main and Minor Characters - I’m a fan of Devryck and Lilia. I think they both work through things with us in the book and I really enjoyed it. I do wish we could have seen more of Lilia’s internal thoughts and struggles at certain moments. Favorite Quote - “Jealousy is a callow schoolboy’s emotion that ends in hard feelings and bloody noses. What I feel for you, Miss Vespertine, would destroy lives.” “Calling her beautiful was like calling the sun lukewarm. She’d blazed like the hottest part of a flame in that dress. And fuck me, I’d felt the heat.” “What separates monsters from good.” Couldn’t pick just one haha. If this book were a fancy drink what would it be?- I would say something with dry ice in it that you drink slowly. Dark colored and biter with a sweet citrus after taste. The fog creeping out of it making you wonder what’s in it haha. What does your imagined furniture for our main couple look like?- Dark woods, lots of neutral colors, many book shelves and organized spaces. Maybe a little impersonal. Tell us one thing that suprised you about the book.- I wish the twist was different to be honest, it wasn’t where I saw the book going. Also I was surprised how long some parts felt to read through. Did you enjoy this read? Will you join the next one and if so what things would you like to see?- It was ok, wasn’t my favorite honestly. It did feel slow, certain parts felt kind of like a let down for me and I was left wanting to get just a bit more from the time I spent reading. I will definitely read the next one! In fact I can’t wait. I’d love to see some romantasy! Edited March 16 by SquirtleSquad 1

RoseyLittle Posted Wednesday at 07:10 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 07:10 PM Squeaking in under the wire! 😬 Spoiler Number of Stars (1-5) - 4 I enjoyed this read, it kept my interest and me turning pages, sometimes it was difficult to put it down at set chapters - especially as the slow burn ignited. Like others here, I totally thought it was leading to a paranormal element, and I enjoy any book that can surprise me. I did not see that particular twist of Caed coming. I found the pacing at the end a bit rushed to explain all the threads. I didn’t find this as well done as I would have liked. However, I thought the way aspects of trauma and flashbacks was well written. Favorite Main and Minor Characters - I enjoyed aspects of character development with both Lilia and Bramwell, but enjoyed his character the most as just a complex human. I also felt super drawn to Caed and his storyline which felt a bit like a tease. I also enjoyed the humour of Lilia’s best friend Favorite Quote - “I’m not going anywhere. You and I? This? There’s no escaping it. Doesn’t matter how fast you run or how far you get, I will always be inside you just like this. In your bones and in your blood and in your head. It doesn’t matter what you tell the universe - what secrets you spill. Nothing can change what we are, what we’ve become.” If this book were a fancy drink what would it be? Like others here I think it would be like the final shot, purple with sparkling black - it would be funny if done like some Halloween shots, taken through a faux plastic injection squirt in the mouth. Maybe the uni students would take it that way at the bar lol. But it’s not the style of the book and Lilia and Dr Death. To keep with their style, the purple swirling drink would be poured in a whiskey glass with black rock whiskey stones instead of ice. What does your imagined furniture for our main couple look like? I picture a mix of old/traditional dark academia and artsy cottage core. 😆 Tell us one thing that surprised you about the book. The return of his twin was not where I thought it was going! Did you enjoy this read? Will you join the next one and if so what things would you like to see? I enjoyed this read immensely! And appreciated the fun romp and breaks from reality. I also enjoyed having a mystery for my brain to chew over. I will be joining the next one and am game for anything. 1
