So here is where yall will post your answers to my questions. One really important thing in this section is to spoil your answers to keep from ruining the book for others.

—I’m thinking something in Abby’s past drove her in her decision to go to the fight.

—Pigeon, I’m thinking originally may have been an insult but has since turned. Pigeons tend to show up in places unwanted. 

3. We always have a major third act disaster from the male lead in these sorts of books. What kind of things do you guess will be Travis's downfall from what little we have seen?

—Wild guess from left field, bit  thinking that Travis’s interest in Abby began due to a bet in his frat. 

4. It appears Travis and Abby are making good friends. Who do you think will admit feelings first and why?

—Travis

5. So here Abby is mad at Travis th8nk8ng he is taking advantage of girls and then disrespectful by not even taking their number. Travis argues he never promised anything and it was their choice. Who's side are you on?

—Travis, as long as he is upfront in the beginning about a hookup only being a hookup. 

6. The lines between these two are quickly getting very blurred. Do you think its possible for things to get this confused this fast? What do you think leads people to this kind of difficult situation?

—Yes, I’m a believer in the universe leading our way and showing us who our person is, even if it may seem complicated. I feel like this is just the beginning of Abby and Travis’s story.

I think it's exactly that. Abby is stepping out of her comfort zone and very likely trying new things, something she may not have been privileged to before college. Maybe she had a strict upbringing and was never allowed to do anything fun. Depending on how strict, it could be why she's doing something so wild when we first meet her.

I honestly have no idea. It felt weird from the beginning, but as he continued to call her that, it grew on me... Like it has on Abby lol Maybe his favorite animal is a pigeon? 🤔

Assuming he's made it clear he's just looking for a good time and it's known he's never with the same girl twice, I would say I'm on Travis' side. He claims he never promised them anything, so if they consented to having sex with the hope of a relationship after, it falls on them. It's unfortunate, but the truth. If he's leading them on, tho, I def think Abby is justified in her anger.

Oh, it def went super fast. It isn't my usual pace, but I liked it since we meet Travis right off the bat lol I think things are getting blurred so quickly because there are no boundaries between them. Only the verbal agreement that they're "just friends." He immediately shares his bed with her, tho he coulda slept on the couch. He un/dresses in front of her with no problem, and he's handsy with her and always in her company/keeping other guys from talking to her... But, I guess it's okay cuz my Daddy and I are "just friends", too. 😜

Love this prediction and I think you nailed it. He is going to realize how deep he is in and have a knee jerk reaction that will mess everything up. My guess is he will sleep with another girl and shove it in her face. Can't wait to see if we are right.

Great answer. While it is still hurtful for a women to hear for real that a guy wants nothing more, at the end of the day she is a grown adult. If she was willing to give that part of her up withput any indication there would ve more involved then she can only blame herself. I HAD to reply to this one because I love it. The end bit got me. Maybe at this stage in the book Teavis is simply a ho. Not everything always has some deeper meaning and not everyone is a decent person when the book starts. He may just be exactly what he portrays.

~I’d guess like a lot of other people, her true reason may be money. That or she could just want to try the experience.

~Not even gonna lie, this seemed so weird to me! Just me? If I had to guess, maybe cause she couldn’t take her eyes off him. So he felt like she was just staring at him.

~Most common downfalls I would say are; toxicity, drugs/alcohol, or other women. I’m hoping for the best, that it’s not too bad.

~As a very stubborn human, Abby seems like she’s also a really stubborn character. That said, I imagine it’ll be Travis.

~I’m on Travis’s. It’s a day and age where there is quick/ easy ways to arrange consensual one time sexual experiences. I don’t think that makes him disrespectful at all.

~ Yes, I think things can get confusing that fast. Especially being in an environment like university, where a lot of people are trying to figure out who they are still. Not only that, but who/ what they want as well. All with school work, and classes to worry about.

 - As this is where the book opens right into, my first wonderings were if this was part of testing out her wings: trying new experiences, pushing herself out of her comfort zone or maybe even stretching boundaries or expectations that she lived with back at home. But then as you keep reading and learning my more about her I also sat with curiosity about small hints at her home life. Like why does she have such a good connection for fake ids, why did she need to leave so far to go to school and get away, why did she spend so much time at her friends house? So it makes me wonder what is in her past and if something about her past actually acted as an unconscious draw to the fight? 

 

2. So immedietly Travis gives our girl the nickname Pigeon. We will no doubt learn why eventually but any guesses in why right off the bat?

I was also surprised by this nickname and couldn’t quite wrap my head around it but also quickly started loving it. But it also caught my attention because my mother grew up in England and that side of my family is very British and sometimes use the slang bird or dove for women. So it reminded me of that. It made me wonder if it’s some sort of commentary on her innocence or maybe even his perception of her naivety?

And also I thought about the way she just went right to the front without paying any attention to risk of self and it reminded me of the way our city pigeons feel no fear and just come right up to you. *laughs*

I’m guessing it’s going to be either a struggle or push back in terms of commitment, or a jealous reaction of some kind. Some version of not feeling good enough and then self sabotaging the thing he doesn’t feel internally he deserves in some way perhaps.

I agree with many here I think it will be Travis first. Something about Abby keeps her more closed, I am so curious about her past.

I understand Travis’ side, if we are consenting adults who are shown the clear boundaries than the choices the women who hook up with him are their own choices and responsibility. At the same time I think people don’t often actually make informed consent really clear, like clear expectations and lines before engaging in sex. We are more likely to say “this is just sex” but less likely to explicitly say this means I won’t be taking your number, I won’t be making you breakfast in the morning. *laughs*

Yes, I think it’s easy to blur quickly, especially as young as they are and living in like closed community space like university or college. I see the way they are both blurring lines then reacting to that blur. I don’t like the flavor of reactive jealousy that each have expressed in different ways but also see how easy that is to have happen as the blur is going on.

8. So Travis brings two girls home and proceeds to have sex with them out in the living room with Abby in the room next door. Let's say they are JUST friends and everything everyone sees is just fluff. With the way he has been treating her and all the sweet things he said is this ok? Would you be upset if in Abbys position even if you were just friends? - Nope, definitely not okay! It was rude and disrespectful. He was 100% trying to hurt her. I would have totally left if I were Abby. 

9. So because of the better Abby is refusing to leave the apartment. She claims she wants to and even begs Travis to let her out of the bet. What are your thoughts on this situation? - I do believe the bet was Travis’s way to keep her close without a commitment of a relationship. Not healthy. 

10. The situation with Abby and Travis is C0MPLICATED. If you were Parker would you have gotten involved in this? Why do you think he is persevering dating her? Is it because he really likes her or is there another motive? - Okay, part of me thinks there’s another motive behind Parker’s interest. Not sure if my paranoia is warranted or not! 😅

I absolutely think folks can be friends regardless of gender. I always remember my mums funny stories about how many “friends” that were girls she went on sleepovers with in her teen years, and no one realized they were actually dating and fooling around. Like no boys allowed over in their bedrooms but a girl was fine. 🤣 So I think it’s more about orientation, interest, feelings. 

8. So Travis brings two girls home and proceeds to have sex with them out in the living room with Abby in the room next door. Let's say they are JUST friends and everything everyone sees is just fluff. With the way he has been treating her and all the sweet things he said is this ok? Would you be upset if in Abbys position even if you were just friends?

It wouldn’t bug me if we truly were just friends. But nothing about what they insist IS friendship. They have blurred the lines in so many ways and both have clear feelings. The part that would bug me about it, is not the girls, it’s the passive aggressive way of communicating. Like if we get in a conflict, even just as friends, it would upset me that instead of talking things out or being clear, someone would go get drunk and do a move to clearly show upset without communicating the upset.

To me it seems both are using the ruse of the bet to do what they truly feel pulled to, being around the other.

No, I wouldn’t get involved in this situation. I am not sure on his motives yet though they don’t seem fully sincere to me. Almost like she is a tick on his to do list of life or a trophy. And I have a feeling her past is going to someway change his view of her.

Would you be upset if in Abbys position even if you were just friends? -This one is harder. It seems like he did it on purpose to see if he would get a rise out of her. If they were truly just friends no harm, but since he wanted more its not okay.

What are your thoughts on this situation? - I think she wants out because she knows she is getting feelings and she needs out to control them.  She needs to just be real with him.

Is it because he really likes her or is there another motive?-  He is weird at best. I think there is some thing between him and Travis.  With all the drama if he really wanted to date he should have gotten the info about the bet and just waited.

Friends of the opposite gender or any gender can be friends and only that. No doubt! You simply have something in common and sometimes it sticks to one area like enjoying a hobby and other times you forge a closer connection. In the instances of closeness, it’s completely normal to know boundaries and to strictly stay in a friend zone. Depending on one’s orientation, it’s normal to have thoughts about hypotheticals, but thoughts are only that. Feelings can develop, but it’s not like that’s always bound to occur with every friend of the opposite sex you have.

Friendship is a choice, and one simply needs to be aware of what’s appropriate and to feel that out, especially in the context of whether you’re already dating and whatnot.

Let's say they are JUST friends and everything everyone sees is just fluff. With the way he has been treating her and all the sweet things he said is this ok? Would you be upset if in Abbys position even if you were just friends?

It’s like a roommate thing in a way, living with anyone really. If you know the kind of person you’re getting involved with, then there’s a level of expectations there for things to brace against… but in an ideal world there’s going to be good communication and consideration for others as well— as everyone’s going to have their habits, circumstances, etc. 

The acceptable thing is notably around the fact that she knows he’s going to be having sex, and he brings people over. Agreed upon and understood. The unacceptable thing to me is more of a timing matter. It’s going to be unideal either way, though strictly from a putting a good step forward when it comes to a newly agreed upon arrangement… to have that happen so immediately and under a tense context versus a communicated heads up of any way… it really just points to a strong lack of consideration and a disregard of the presence of another— even if it’s a platonic relationship.

 

If I was in Abby’s position, I would be upset, and I’d likely immediately the contemplate going back on a deal that wasn’t even too serious. A conversation should be had regarding it, even if originally it was alright. Renegotiation and communication of feelings and all that.

With that being said… IF it wasn’t as abrupt from  and there was indeed a strong feeling of affection, I can completely understand putting aside one’s own discomfort and minimizing one’s feelings which is big unfortunate. You can sometimes say and agree to one thing— and in Abby’s case she’s trying to prove herself as a cool and understanding friend, which is only going to spell an outburst in the future if it keeps going and neither communicates of the things that hurt them

10. The situation with Abby and Travis is C0MPLICATED. If you were Parker would you have gotten involved in this? Why do you think he is persevering dating her? Is it because he really likes her or is there another motive?

Too messy. He seems like someone who likes stability. He’s interested in marriage and he has things planned ahead of him… yet he’s considering exploring that with an undergrad? Someone who’s at a nebulous state in their life, undecided in a major, and of course involved in an ambiguous friendship with someone who’s aggressive and overprotective. For the proximity of his graduation, it seems like a lot to invest in. If anything, I could understand holding out until the month long deal is over to have a better assessment rather than catching in an especially temporary situation with Travis and Abby. 
 

So with that, I do understand holding out to get to know a person better and I wouldn’t expect an ulterior motive, but it’s certainly messy right  now.

It's def possible for people their age/opposite sex to be friends. The same goes for it getting complicated. They could both develop feelings or one can develop feelings while other doesn't. It all boils down to respect and boundaries... which Travis and Abby are lacking lol

This one is a difficult for me to answer. As friends/roommates, I feel his actions were okay because there's no commitment to Abby and he held his boundaries of keeping the girls in the living room.  With how Travis behaves towards Abby, tho, it was def not okay. It felt super vindictive from his end because he was hurt she didn't return his feelings. At the same time, according to Abby, they're just friends so it shouldn't bother her if he is continuing the way he was before they met. Personally, if I were Abby, I don't think I'd be hurt by his actions, but I would be grossed out by "friend's" actions.

There are times I felt Abby was picking and choosing when the bet benefit her. First she said she had to honor the bet but then begged to be "released" from it as if Travis was holding her hostage... which he kinds wasn't? Based on her actions and the little we know about Abby and her past, I get the vibe that keeping her word seems really important to her.

I def think he has other motives, one being to steal the girl Travis Maddox is in love with. Parker seems sweet and promising, but I feel he's zeroing in on Abby because he has some beef with Travis. Both guys mentioned their dislike for each other to Abby, even if not specifically why.

I feel Parker does like Abby, but the end goal isn't a relationship with her for him.

Maybe he's secretly in love with Travis himself and wants to sabotage any other possible romances Travis may have lol
