About This Club

Do you feel alone these days? Does the lack of community in the world make you a little sad? Do you maybe have issues staying on track physically or emotionally during the week? Welcome to Takes a Village, our new day to day community club and body doubling system. When going thrpugh the forum I seem to see alot of folks who want to be more involved but maybe dont see how or where to do so. I think we all feel maybe we dont have much "exciting" to share. This is your place. My hope is that active folks on here will start using this club and create an even closer mini community. So let me kind of explain. First off is the body doubling. This is where people just be together, either for real or emotionally, so that they can do tasks that feel overwhelming or hard. I will explain more in that section but this is where we help eachother get stuff done! We also still have our wonderful arts and crafts section. It will be managed by the talented Andriel who will have some fun new craft events to help us interact because that is the goal here. As much interacting as possible. With that in mind know this club only works if folks step out and actually comment/use it! We also have the Sanity Board. A place to get advice or input on daily things that you need to know before you lose your mind. Finally, the Accomplishment board where we will lift you up for all your successes, even if it is as small as loading the dishes or waking up (a tailored response to EVERY SINGLE POST from yours truly is garunteed). *whispers* We may even have our own live chat for daily things... So please! Come in and make this place even better with your wonderful selves.

    Avoiding Illness

@PigtailPrincess I don't know your ability to limit exposure, especially if you have others living in your home who interact with the public at large, often, but my biggest tip is wear a mask when around people; always! And not the flimsy little doctor office masks, but the good N95 or equivalent masks. Avoiding people in peraon and wearing a mask when I can't has been a game changer! I have gotten weird looks, but never any guff, though I'm absolutely prepared to throat punch anyone who tries to grab it off my face. No one is allowed to put my health at risk over their personal opinion! Maybe that energy has kept the worst of people at bay. Seriously, I can not stress this enough! My immune system is shot, and I was constantly in and out of the hospital for years due to illnesses that most people shrug off but that nearly did me in. And I was ALWAYS sick! I had masks pre-covid but I didn't wear them regularly. Once I started to, I noticed I was not getting sick. I've been illness free for 5 years now! Helps, too, that I can control exposure for myself and Kiddo, as it's only us in the house. Even if you have housemates who go out in public often without a mask, you wearing one when you do will help tremendously. HEPA air purifiers in each room running 24/7 also help a lot, especially if you have housemates (kids, spouse, roommate, etc.) Just don't forget to change the filters! Yes, it's expensive, but well worth it. Lysol everything anyone touches at least once a day. Antibacterial hand soap at all sinks and wash your hands all day long! Seriously, I think I wash my hands no less than 20 times a day. Lotion next to the soap cause your hands will get dry. I also carry hand sanitizer when out and use it often on my hands, steering wheel, door handle, basically everything I touch. It may discolor things it touches in the car over time, but again, worth it not to be sick and in the hospital. I know these seem extreme, but these are things I've implemented that have made huge differences. If you are still having a hard time breathing, and coughing a lot, rub Mentholatum (Vicks may work too, but I don't like it and don't use it) on your chest, back, and bottom of your feet, then socks on feet. If you don't have anyone to help rub the ointment on your back, put a sandwich bag over a wood spoon or spatula and tape it in place snuggly. Then apply the ointment to the bag and use the impliment to help smear it on your back. If you have a heat pad, turn it on lowest setting and let the temperature stabilize, then lay it over your chest. Do not use any temperature setting higher than the lowest and make sure you have clothing between the heat pad and the ointment on your chest, otherwise, it could cause burns. The heat helps the ointment penetrate deeper and both help relax muscles and loosen phlem. Dicing a yellow onion and putting it in a bowl of water next to where you are sitting is also bennificial. Idk if it really absorbs germs like the wives' tale claims, but the airomatics released by the onion helps loosen phlem and make breathing easier. The water dilutes the onion enough to not be tear inducing and keeps it from drying out. Replace the onion and water with fresh, daily. These were (are, if I get sick again) my go to tips/tricks to help combat illness. Hope this helps! Wishing you feel better soon.

    Avoiding Illness

Hey guys! Not 100% back but trying to pop back into the land of the living. So as you noticed I recently got pretty sick with pnemonia. This is the first time I have gotten sick since my possible autoimmune issue started last summer and honestly it freaked me out. I felt like I got super sick very fast and didn't get well very quickly. We all know some of the common tips and tricks to stay or get well but I am taking that a step further. I want allll the strange tips and tricks you have gotten over the years. Extra points if someone with immune issues has some tips too. Thought this cpuld be helpful for at least some of us and I was losing my mind trying to get well.
  15. I mean, right?

    Do a Thing

Anything. Start a project. Finish one. Make a meal. Get out of bed. Take a walk. Read a chapter of that book. Color a picture. Watch a cartoon. I don't know what your thing is. Just do a thing. You'll feel better. You got this. You're a rock star. I love you. ❀️ Also, drink water.
  18. Woooooooo, I recognize that style of bracelet making!! 🀩 They look fantastic. Thank you for sharing
  19. @Little Nyx I mean, it IS difficult to argue with that logic.
  20. @Flower_Dragon Ok, hear me out. The base colors are the same, so technically there isn't much difference but it gave me a good excuse to buy more floss. {wink} Demisexual: black triange, thick white stripe, thin purple stripe, thick grey stripe. I represented it with double black, white, and grey and single purple layers. Asexual: even sized stripes of black, grey, white, purple. Different sized stripes in different color orders means I need different bracelets, right?!? {giggle}

    A strange one...

Oh that sucks. But progress is progress, even when it slows down. Hopefully, you'll feel better soon. For now, give yourself grace. πŸ’ You deserve healing time.
  22. @Little Nyx Genuine question. How would the asexual bracelet be different than the demisexual?
  23. Flower_Dragon

    In case anyone needs it

@PigtailPrincess I didn't actually watch the show, but the theme is just such a banger. Just an amazing hype song.
  24. Little Nyx

    A strange one...

You are doing a great job! Your body appreciates the nutrients it needs to recuperate and heal. And don't forget to drink water. That is important, too! Hope you are feeling better soon. Even if only a little.
  25. From left to right: Pride, demisexual, reciprosexual, middle, demiromantic, little, and demigirl. Working on a remake of demiromantic (I don't like the thinner bracelet) and one for agender and asexual. I have a bunch of others that I made that are just pretty but these fit this month's theme.
  26. Little Nyx

    Paint by number

I started choosing comfort over fashion a LONG time ago, and not straining my eyes definitely counts as comfort.
