About This Club
- What's new in this club
-
I don't keep any in the house, but have a bunch in my office at work. All succulents.
-
I have one snake plant, a zz plant, and a pathos. I for whatever reason fail to keep up with them. But all three are surviving. 😅
-
I've started with pothos, snake, and spider plants as those are very easy to propagate. 🪴 I then collected peace lily, palm, and even a ficus tree people give away.
-
Is anyone in to collecting houseplants? I have about 35ish. I gravitate towards "goth" plants and pink ones. I really like begonias and tradescantia.

What are you growing this 2026 season?

Wow @Sicarie all that sounds amazing! Yeah, I got some marigold seeds to plant. They really help with deterring pests. -

I’ve started some herbs. Parsley , rosemary, cilantro, catnip, basil. I need to get some oregano and dill as well. Getting ready to plant tomatoes this weekend. I think we are doing Roma, cherry, and beefsteak. Also plan on onion, lettuce, carrot, cabbage, bush bean, summer squash, a couple kinds of peppers, cucumber, potato, peas, beets, and corn. Oh, also getting grapes and some blueberry bushes planted this year. I think that all…oh, trying to grow some marigold starts this year to keep the plants safe. -

I saw some overbearing strawberry hanging baskets that I am thinking about buying. I have tiny tim tomatoes going in my indoor greenhouse and have 2 ripe tomatoes on them right now. -
Spring is in full swing and summer will be here before we know it! I wanted to know what everyone is planning to grow this season? I'll start. I plan on growing: -Roma tomatos - Cherry tomatos -Herbs: basil, thyme, rosemary - Onion -Spaghetti squash I get extra plants from work so whatever surplus my boss doesn't need I might take home too to plant. I plan on making marinara sauce out off the tomatos, onions, and herbs to eat with the spaghetti squash. 😋

I love to work with plants and be in nature. This year I am starting my own garden. I would love to learn and share with you all. Is this club still running this year?

This year I’m adding strawberries and snap peas to my little patio setup! I also finally got a grow light to help with my houseplants since they’ve been struggling with the low light in winter. Thinking of trying baby carrots in containers too—someone in the thread mentioned them and it sounds so fun. -

HELP! Strawberries look like science experiments
peanutpuppy posted a topic in The Patch's General Discussion
So my strawberries have been growing all lumpy and fat! There's nothing wrong with it taste wise if anything people say it tastes way better but I want them to look pretty and not so "made in a lab" like or conjoined. Any tips? Pls -

I am best at veggies for sure
-
I'm somewhat of a "I have a few plants lots of strawberries and also a nice lawn which I treat and is stripey when mowed, and am experimenting with Carrots and broccoli this year" person, so not really as advanced as most

Update on Kale, I got my first harvest in! And there were some watermelon seeds I saved from one I bought at the grocery store. I think it was those small seedless watermelons. It actually had a couple of seeds and one of them sprouted! So in the garden it goes -

I find it best to make an album (or two) on your profile page. There you can upload just about any photos and GIFs. Then when writing a post you can use the drop-down menu Other Media, Insert Existing Attachment, and then select Gallery Images. -

How in the world do you add your pictures in here? I have downloaded multiple different resizing apps on my phone to make the files smaller so I can post them and I can’t seem to find one that will allow the clarity that your photos have. Do you have any tips for this? The 20kb allowed is an absolute joke. I can’t work with that, maybe I’m too old and don’t know the right tricks😂😅 -

Herbs in Pots to Make Them Behave
BigMeat replied to Andriel_Isilien's topic in The Patch's Container Gardening
@Andriel_Isilien I need to get some mint plants as well. They are good for repelling mosquitoes! Spearmint and rosemary probably work better for mosquito repelling, but it would be nice to have all three. Here in Texas, the mosquitoes are ruthless😓 thank you for your invite to the group! -

I started in Marh some Kale seeds which took off nicely. Towards the end of April, I moved them outside. Kale is hardy and isn't bothered by chilly weather as Spring makes up its mind. Somehow, a bit of dill snuck its way into the row of kale 😄 What have you been growing in your garden? Any starters from nurseries? Seeds that you got sprouting? 🌱 Share them below!

Herbs in Pots to Make Them Behave
Andriel_Isilien replied to Andriel_Isilien's topic in The Patch's Container Gardening
Mint is famous for going crazy in gardens. I have seen the plants get HUGE in other people's gardens. The roots are near impossible to contain in the ground because they will spread out and under everything. This I set in a pot several years ago to solve that problem. Container gardening is also very useful for when you have to relocate and want to take your herbs with you. All of these herbs I have I got from other people on Facebook Marketplace. They were literally giving them away for free; dig up yourself and bring your own pot. Brilliant way to network and find gardening plants being sold. There's so much to find there, I highly recommend! -
Some herbs like to spread their roots to overtake gardens with no bounds. I keep mine in pots to make them behave. This year I got my hands (with gloves) on some stinging nettle and lemon balm. 🌿 I'm excited to use these two herbs for making tea! On the left is stinging nettle you need gloves on when handling but once dried or cooked it's totally safe. I already harvested some which is why it's so small. This is a super herb full of nutrients like iron, vitamin C, calcium, vitamin A and more! 💪 I have seasonal allergies, and nettle is a natural antihistamine. This thing grows like a weed! On the right is lemon balm and it's adjusting so well in a pot after I dug it up! This herb is another powerhouse of benefits. Mainly lemon balm is known for calming down stress which I'm all for 🙌 It is also good for digestion and heart health. This is in the mint family and therefore likes to overgrow. The lemony-citrus scent of this herbs gives it the name.

With gardening, the term "zones" is used a lot when it comes to what month is best to plant seeds. Most often the details are on the back of packets you buy at the store. However, I have been hoarding seeds from the produce section and past harvests, and I keep forgetting what my own zone # is. It's helpful to have a reference. I'll share the USA map. I welcome anyone to comment below other countries and their hardiness zones. I'm actually a bit curious what it's like to garden for those in the southern hemisphere. Another reference I like to rely on is what months are good to start planting, both outside and starters inside. Again, I've been going off of seeds that I harvest myself and those don't come with instructions. I'll start for the month of May article linked here The Seeds You Need to Plant in May for a Summer Garden. You can check out other months they have throughout the year. Let's get planting! 🌱

My Veggie Garden
PigtailPrincess replied to PigtailPrincess's topic in The Patch's Herbs & Edible Plants
Thank you friend!! Yes 16 is in fact basil (kinda a pain in the ass here) and 19 is two type of dill! But does look much like carrot so good eye! We start almost everything from seed. I usually buy my tomatoes as my setup is too cold and I like to get aJumpstart. We also buy a few super early brasicas bit other than that the greenhouse starts most of our stuff.
