Princess Joe Joe
Greetings! I am a little and I have recently just watched the documentary Earthlings, which shows how you REALLY get your yummy hamburgers and pork chops. To say I was appalled is an understatement. I cried, sobbed actually, at the evil ways we treat the innocent. Since then I have made a full 360 turn and became completely vegan! So are there any other vegan littles? Do you know of any vegan recipies? What type of vegan are you (high carb, raw, ect)?

Princess Joe Joe
I did not just watch earthlings. I have done a plethora of research, but admittedly earthlings played a major role in my transition. I respect your decision to eat chicken nuggets so please respect my choice to not. Thank you. Guest Don Pablo
oh i totally respect whatever you choose to do, I just wanted to point out that most people that I know that have turned vegetarian/vegan did it because of earthlings. have a lovely day
Guest BugBug
I didnt eat meat for 8yrs and then went back thinking i was missing out on something healthwise and felt quite ill since going back. I eat meat maybe once a month and i feel terribly guilty when i see animals and think what the process really is for them. So im back to no meat. I swapped my milk recently. I really struggle socially with it people just not understanding me. For example the above daft comments about chicken nuggets. Not funny, not cool. dnswd
I was hmm around 12 or 13 the first time I went to the butcher's on my own. At that time it was cheaper to get the whole bird rather than parts of it. They had live chickens which they would grab, kill, clean (not in front of you) and chop up the parts as needed. Even watched rabbit, hare, deer and other types of game meat killed and dressed. Inspite of all that still love and enjoy meat and would never give up on it. Reason why I said what I said is not to make fun of vegans, other than the fanatical ones that say think of the poor innocent animals. Its not easy to endure ridicule of others or struggle socially with people not understanding your choices. You are who you are, if others cant accept you for it move on. Dont waste time on them. Guest NeedToServe
We were designed to eat meat and related food. Bring on the steak! Eat what you want, but don't you dare tell me what I eat is wrong. (I don't mean you, op, lol, I mean the soap box warriors with literally no health/nutrition knowledge whatsoever) Oh yeah, and if you don't want to eat a certain thing, why do people try so hard to find synthetic or processed crap that TASTES like those things, lol? zzz
Oh yeah, and if you don't want to eat a certain thing, why do people try so hard to find synthetic or processed crap that TASTES like those things, lol? Nah, this is only really ridiculous if the environmental impact/human cost/animal cruelty involved in synthesizing it is the same or greater than that of just eating the damn animal in the first place. I don't know if that's actually true for any fake meats, but it'd be pretty ironic.
Guest NeedToServe
I'm happy just eating the animal.
Princess Joe Joe
Eat your animal, I don't really care. Personally I don't want to put my dollar toward the industry, and I can survive just fine without it. I didn't post the thread to convert you to my way of thinking. Make a meat eating thread, honestly, I couldn't care any less what you choose to put in your body. This is a thread for like-minded people. Thank you.
Guest QueenJaylen
I've been a vegitarian for about seven years I only did it because my mom was so uncontrollably over bearing and what I ate was the only thing I had control over so I just stopped eating meat, but then it ended up becoming apart of me and I love it I find new things to eat everyday.
Mega Matt
Well I've been vegetarian for a few years now. Admittedly, I don't do the whole vegan thing, and drink a lot of milk. So for me, the combination of peanut butter, beans/lentils and milk is where I get most protein. Thai or Indian style Curry is a great way to eat anything really. It's crazy cheap to make too. Just like any soup, there's a huge variety of vegetable ingredients that you can put in and it will turn out great. You can also fry up some tofu if you want and add that. I use Mae Ploy curry paste. The yellow one is the only one that would be vegan though. The other ones have shrimp paste in them. I use the yellow one exclusively and it's great. It lasts a long time. You can find it on amazon for an okay price, but I would look in an asian-foods store if there's one around. The curry paste at Ralph's and wal-mart and places like that are garbage. Definitely use some lime and cilantro if you're going to make this stuff. Put those in your bowl when you serve it. Anyway I can send you a recipe if you want. Would be awesome if you made some. So yeah, nice job on choosing to not eat meat. We really need more smart women like you in the world. I really suggest getting to know this list here> https://www.yevo43.com/ask-nutrition-expert/43-essential-nutrients/ Just make sure you're getting all the protein and iron you need. Plant proteins generally don't have a lot of lysine. Calcium, phosphorous, and potassium are also important if you're not drinking milk. You can get the Omega 3 you need from flax seeds or canola oil instead of fish, and you don't really need to worry a lot about omega 6 since it's so abundant in different foods. Peanut butter, vegetable oil, or any nuts are good sources though. So basically i'm really happy that you're trying the vegan thing. You rock. Thanks for being great. Pikkukookos
I started seeing nightmared about animal torture and stuff. So I became vegan. But it was a step by step transformation. Now I'm really hard vegan. No red coloring (in candies for example) because it's made from insects I check every alcohol is it cleared with gelatine. No honey no whitened sugar and ofc no animal tested products. No wool no leather no silk.
Guest annemarie
i am a huge animal lover. i don't need to see a documentary to no longer have the desire to eat them. however, i also have borderline personality disorder and chronic fatigue syndrome, so my body doesn't absorb protiens, omega 3s, or iron the same way other people do, which means that unless i eat meat, i don't get the right protein i need. i found this out when i tried to be a vegetarian. however, i instead now only buy organic meat (meat that comes from ethically raised animals and has no steroids). i don't feel as bad about eating meat when i know that the animal i am eating was raised humanely and treated with love before being used to give me fuel. i would love to be a vegetarian or a vegan, but if i did that, i would be malnourished within six months, so i'm a semi-tarian instead. i basically eat as little meat as possible and only have a hamburger once a month to keep my body from shutting down on me.
Barklee
I'm Vegetarian and I want to transition to veganism. Cheese is my biggest downfall. I've been holding off on watching Earthlings because I knew it would probably be the tipping point into veganism for me. Currently I eat my normal stuff with at least one Vegan meal a day and expanding from that. Kind of like meatless Mondays for carnivores kind of concept. I haven't found a rock solid source for recipes yet, mostly I veganize my favorite recipes and got in the habit of buying Earth Balance and almond milk instead of cow milk and butter. I did enjoy the Forks Over Knives recipes I found on Pinterest though. Kudos to you for converting so fast. You must have killer self control. Barklee
Oh and fun Vegan treat I have sometimes, Microwave Brownie! 1/4 cup flour 1/4 cup sugar 2tbsp cocoa powder 2 tbsp oil 3 tablespoons water Mix together in a mug and microwave for a minute and a half. I like topping it with peanut butter. Putting it in my favorite Toy Story mug and my Cars spoon help extra of course.
littlebylittle
I'm not vegetarian nor vegan but I can't understand people who eat meat and don't understand your point of view. So even as a meat eater I have great sympathy for your choice !
