Dog obedience class~

Roxy did fantastic in class today! <3 Amanda, the trainer, was able to get Roxy nearly in her lap to take treats! She was also able to toss the treats around the training area (about 6ft x 9ft) and Roxy would go get them and even return to her for another treat! I almost started crying seeing Roxy like this. She's so relaxed with Amanda now and even starting to go up and sniff strangers at the dog park or let them pet her. She's made tremendous progress since we started this class! <3

Does anyone else have puppers that are in class or learning to be more confident? Roxy just started classes a month ago! We meet once a week

Aww she's so gorgeous! I'm glad she's doing so well. It makes life a lot happier for them when they can be more relaxed. 

 

My family adopted a rescue last year. She was very afraid of everything and stuck by my side the whole time. She couldn't go explore by herself so I had to do everything with and for her. Within a week she was slowly venturing out, and after a couple of weeks she could explore the house and our property by herself happily. She's much more relaxed now and when we go on walks she can even go out by herself (one good thing about living rural is that there's plenty of walking tracks around forests and rivers that she can walk off leash). She loves dog parks whenever we can travel to one, and she's just overall a much happier and confident dog.

 

Being able to see those big changes is such an emotional thing so I understand the almost crying lol.

My mother is taking my parents dog to obedience school but only because he starts fight with any animal in his vision at any moment

Thank you <3 I'm so glad your family's rescue is doing great too! I hope Roxy gets to that point eventually. She's happy as hell at my Daddy's house but in this house (with 4 strangers living here that she doesn't know) she's scared. I'm sure she'll be a "normal" dog once we move in to Daddy's place I'm glad you understand it too! A co-worker thought I was weird for crying over my dog taking treats from a stranger lol

Oh, I hope he gets better! We were taught (we being Roxy and me) by the trainer that's because the dog is insecure ;A; I'm sure classes will help! It's boosted Roxy's confidence level and she's only nipping at dogs that are just... way way too interested in her nether regions lmao

That's great news that Roxy is making good progress, you should be proud of YOURSELF too, for helping her to do it!

Here's hoping things continue to go well, and don't feel bad if the progress is a bit up and down sometimes.  Give her time, she'll get there
