Guest Maple
So ever since I moved I’ve had a really hard time sleeping. I tried walking around before sleep, stretching to be comfortable before laying down, drinking milk, just laying still and sometime soon I use sleep aid. Any suggestions to help? I’m kinda open to anything
SweetPlum
Same. Someone recommended me taking melatonin. Do an all-nighter tonight, drink something with caffeine when the sun comes up, stay up the whole day today, and when night comes again you will crash. Then hopefully you can sleep through more nights.
Guest CollateralBeauty
Hiya Maple! I struggle to fall asleep, too. I don't know if you nap at all during the day, but if you do I would stop doing that. No matter how tired I get throughout the day, I don't let myself take a nap because I know I won't be able to sleep at night if I do. Another thing that I've started doing is getting into a nightly routine. I read somewhere once-upon-a-time that getting yourself into a nightly routine can help your body wind down. Mine has been drinking a cup of tea in my kitchen. Also, another tip would be that if you can't fall asleep within thirty minutes, get up and go to another area and do a relaxing activity. I read somewhere that staying in your bed when you can't sleep can create a link in your head between your sleeping environment and being awake. Basically, you want your bed to be a place where you head thinks of sleepy thoughts/feelings. If all else fails, try melatonin. Your body produces it naturally anyways so it's one that I tend to trust more over other sleeping meds.
Guest Revurex
I'd like to share my routine. I know a lot of people here struggle with sleep. Perhaps this routine could help someone. I use it every day and fall asleep instantly. I’ve also put people that I’ve dated on this routine and it worked great for them. * Maintain a consistent sleep/wake schedule. * Have a productive day and exercise. The busier and more active your day is the easier it is to fall asleep. * No caffeine or alcohol within 3 hours of bedtime. * No sugar/carbs within 2 hours of bedtime. * No cigarettes within 1 hour of bedtime. * Create a wind-down period that takes place 1 hour before bedtime. During this time you should dim the lights, and avoid overstimulation. No movies, video games, and especially no blue light. This is your time to wind-down and relax, both physically and mentally. * During your wind-down period write about your day. Write a brief summary of what you did. Write down any issues that are bothering you. Write about anything that’s on your mind. Also, write a to-do list for the next day. This helps clear the mind so it’s not running crazy while you’re trying to fall asleep. * Follow a nightly routine. Such as brushing teeth, washing face, applying lotion, etc. Creating these habits/routines helps tell the brain that it's time to go to sleep. *Lastly, try to keep your room on the colder side. Your body uses up more energy trying to get warm and you fall asleep faster. Edited August 11, 2018 by Revurex
Guest LeftyGuitar
It can be hard to sleep. There are things like melatonin you can take to help you fall asleep. If you're dealing with allergies you can take a anti-histamine that makes you drowsy. That may help you sleep. I knoe cool/cold air can help too.
