Having a picture of yourself.

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

So.. peeps who have been a member for a bit, or if you just wanna share your opinion, what do you think about sharing a picture of yourself on here? I get that it ultimately comes down to what youre comfortable with, but maybe theres something im overlooking? Im trying to be careful i suppose. Maybe im just over thinking.

Thanks for reading!

P.S. realized this probably belongs in general discussion but have no clue how to delete this post. My bad peeps!

As a general rule I don't post any pictures because once you do, you've lost control. Perhaps I'm just a control freak though.

I may have shared a picture of mysel here and there, but it's unlikely. I try to keep my personal info to myself, even my name to be fair

honestly yea because like.. in instagram and facebook and whatever, i have a profile picture but even then you can't really see my face and ive got my accounts on private, but thats mainly because of stalkers.

Cant really fault you for wanting to control how much random people on the internet know about you

I have a front facing picture of myself in my gallery, but as for my userpic, I prefer not to make it obvious that it is me, especially since people who are not members of the forum can see it if it's up on the front page or somewhere in the responses. I keep my DDlg lifestyle private, and I don't want anyone to happen across the site and see my face. That's just me, though.

Good point! Was thinking about just uploading something on my gallery too with roughly the same idea in the back of my mind!

i'm a pretty public person i keep a policy of honesty when i deal with people, i owe it to all the people i have talked to online over the years for them to see the face behind the memes i have no issue divulging anything except exactly where i live and that comes with trust i also know that unless its an anomalous circumstance but i trust most people online as a general rule, i dont believe in liers online just people who dont want to share but i do know catfishing and scams are common though i have never encountered or been victim to anything like that

I respect that. It sure is a postive look you have when it comes to the online space. Not that its unwarranted ofcourse :)

Guest You're adorable.

I think that actually seeing the person that you talk to appeals to be more personal and enjoyable.. I mean, in real life we always have that "first impression" kind of thing that comes from the way we look. So I think that having a picture makes it somehow easier to talk to someone. Or maybe it's just me. :D

I'm blonde and have blue eyes - I could be anyone. :p

Solid point. Believe these kinda forums are kinda exempt from that though since many people including myself would like to keep it "secret" from others close to us because yano.. ignorance and all that jazz

Personally, I don't like the way I look in most photos. Combined with a need to keep this part of my life private from other parts, I choose an avatar that represents me. If someone wants to see the real me, I am happy to share.

So interesting to kinda see and compare everyone's view on this. Youve all got some excellent points. Just goes to show how much it depends on ourselves (obvs)

I won't ever have my profile picture of my face or put a picture of myself in my gallery. I discovered a while ago that google searching my username brings up past profile photos as well. So if I did it and changed my mind... people could find it just through a google search ._.

I've linked photos before but I'd never upload to here. But that's me ._.

Good thing you found that out in time though!
