LittleCelticLass Posted September 2, 2018 Report Posted September 2, 2018 She stands alone upon the rocky hill Amber colored eyes searching the southern horizon A lonely sentinel in silent vigil Day in and day out she waits for him her handsome Warrior Chief. Thirteen moons have come and gone The wheel of the year once more turns to the dark of the year In dawn’s soft light she climbs the hill, to watch the valley floor And every day she waits for him still, the leader of her clan He left her standing there one windswept autumn night The Hunter moon casting its silver light upon the windswept hill He held her close and kissed her then “I promise to return” “I’ll wait for you” she whispers soft, and then lets go his hand Through winter’s bitter chill, snow swirls ‘round her skirts Spring’s gentle rains fall like tears upon her cheeks Summer’s sun beats down and burns her creamy skin Autumn winds blow fierce and tangle russet curls The drums of war resound off the stony Highland cliffs that day The warriors gathered for a fight to keep their lands He left her on their hillside home with a promise and a kiss The men marched off to war behind her beloved Warrior Chief Blood bathed the fields of battle Death came to many as they fought to keep their homes The knowledge that she waits for him Kept the warrior fighting on A flash of pain, an arc of blood His only thought was of his love and how she waits for him “I will return!” he shouts as his strength begins to ebb His eyes slid closed and the battle slipped from his sight. A gentle touch and rich warm broth, stars dancing in is eyes He struggled to sit up, but strong hands held him down He wondered did she keep the faith, how many moons have passed? His battle now was to gain his strength, and put his feet upon the path As the wheel turned round he fought himself His weakened body struggled He forced himself to stand up straight and then to walk again As autumn winds began to blow, he journeyed toward his home In dawn’s pale light, she left her home and began the climb And there upon the crest, a joyful sight did come to her and put her fears to rest “I waited” she said so soft “I have returned” was his reply Into his arms she flew, as tears fell from her eyes They stand alone upon the rocky hill as he looks into her eyes He holds her close and kisses her and whispers of his love Her wait is over, he has come home The warrior has his bride.
