Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I've just started to record bedtime stories for any littles who need help sleeping. If you could give me any feedback, or suggestions of which stories I should do next, that would be wonderful!

You can reach me here, @DReadingCorner, or at daddysreadingcorner@gmail.com depending on your preference.

Sleep well,

D.R.C.

Oh, I didn’t tell you. I have the complete collection of the Brothers Grimm. Do you know the story of the three princesses, the well and the toad?

Hello everyone!

Tonight's story is the Girl with No Hands (or the Maiden without Hands, there are a lot of titles...) by the Brothers Grimm.

And I don't know the Three Princesses (off the top of my head), but it may be in one of my books.

Sleep well.

I'm listening to beauty and the beast now and I keep hearing 'sons' and 'handsome'

Is that what the story actually says?

If that is correct, why does it do that when they are the father's daughters, not sons.

Hi Lottles,

That is correct, the 'original abridgement'  of Beauty and the Beast does give Beauty a much larger

family. They're referenced a couple times throughout the story, though I believe 'handsome' refers to

Beauty, here. It's an older usage of the word, but it used to be commonly used to describe women, as well.

Hope that clears up any confusion!  :D

I forgot that in the original she had brothers as well. It's been awhile since I've read it.

After I hear 'handsome' refer to the girls more than once I was thinking it must have been used different in older times.

So yes, that does clear everything up.

Thanks

P.S. I had a hard time getting to sleep last night and listening to some of these storeies really helped. And the 'good night' at the end...I don't know how to describe it but I really like it.

Hello little ones,

Just thought I'd let you all know that there's a new story up:

The Bottle Neck, by Hans Christian Anderson.

I hope you enjoy it.

Sleep well,

DRC
