ScarletBaby Posted December 27, 2020 Report Posted December 27, 2020 So I was just relaxing when this thought decides to live in my brain rent free and now I’m kind of obsessed with it. Has anyone noticed that the only way to wear diapers that are similar to that of an actual infant, which is similar to our Little ages at times, is cloth diapers? Our disposable diapers, while usually thick and comfy, have little in common with all other disposable diapers when looking at them on. Why do we have only plastic or cloth? If I’m wrong, please point me to the cute disposable diapers that aren’t plastic. But otherwise hear me out. It’s not about absorbency and leaks. As a healthcare worker who has changed many adult diapers I can say with confidence that there are medical diapers of a similar design to that of infant diapers, other than their patterns, that can hold plenty. And if you add a booster pad to that the amount of absorption increases exponentially. So why is it that we get plastic or cloth if we want something cute around our butts. And following that reasoning, why can’t we get patterned pull-ups that are disposable. The only ABDL pull ups I’ve seen were cloth otherwise we are stuck with the adult depends. Am I the only one who’s thought of this or...?
Lollipox Posted December 27, 2020 Report Posted December 27, 2020 (edited) Have you checked out ABU? They have cute patterns. https://au.abuniverse.com/ Edited December 27, 2020 by Lollipox
ScarletBaby Posted December 27, 2020 Author Report Posted December 27, 2020 They look cute but they still have the plastic outer layer. There are plenty of cute ABDL diapers, but the only disposable ones I’ve seen are plastic. If you look at baby or medical diapers, they aren’t plastic. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but using similar materials to baby diapers would be more environmentally friendly than plastic and not need to be washed. I like low maintenance if possible. It was just something I noticed and wondered if anyone else is noticing too.
MJA78 Posted December 27, 2020 Report Posted December 27, 2020 I always wondered the same thing. I think they are trying to replicate the vintage diapers from the early 80's as far as materials go. I thought the same thing that so much plastic is so unnecessary and not really good for the environment. 1
junebug0325 Posted December 27, 2020 Report Posted December 27, 2020 I was thinking the same thing. It's a little frustrating to me that these are the only options. I guess the outer plastic layer is for extra protection. I think it is also a market problem. Obviously, there isn't a big market for adult diapers and therefore the companies that exist hasn't put these products on the market because they don't think they would sell. Or, they have, and it hasn't done well. Either way, I think it's such a bummer that companies haven't put these out to the general public. Junebug x.
Little kaiya Posted December 27, 2020 Report Posted December 27, 2020 There is a generational element to it as well. As someone born in the late 70's all the diapers I wore as a baby were plastic backed. That plastic makes a distinct crinkle and has a textural feel that a lit if littles born around that time find comforting and which helps trigger littkespace. Personally, I hate cloth backed diapers as they don't have the same textural feel or sound that I love. 1
LeftyGuitar Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 I'm lucky in that I can fit into the biggest size baby diapers and pull-ups there are. However I do think they should make some more ABDL type diapers that are more suitied for adult sizes. I realize that the market for it is most likely extremely small, however.
ScarletBaby Posted December 28, 2020 Author Report Posted December 28, 2020 I think the market could be much bigger than companies think. There are patients who are kids and incontinent who can’t fit into baby diapers comfortably anymore. They would probably much prefer their diapers that they do wear to be printed. They could be marketed towards medical conditions and we could benefit. Working with my 6yo patient helped me notice this lack of cute diapers that aren’t plastic or cloth. Hopefully soon someone can make these diapers a thing. 1
