Hello everyone!!!

I've got covid currently :( and the worst part in my cough and sore throat.

I've been drinking warm milk and honey to help (and it does) but the issue is I hate honey!! Adding some cinnamon helps disguise the flavour but it's still super duper gross. Any ideas to make it tolerable? Or another drink that will help my throat?

Also anyone know any other healing drinks to maybe help others feel better with different symptoms??? Or just comfy drinks to help your head thoughts heal???

Have you tried alternatives to honey ? A lot of vegans I know will use agave nectars instead of honey , or will use things like maple syrup !Β

I was going to immediately suggest a β€œ Hot toddy β€œ drink , but it has booze and honey in it πŸ˜•Β

I hope you feel better !

I have a batch of Fire Cider that is a similar drink but no alcohol. 😁 I take a shot of it once or twice a day when I feel the itchy head cold starting in the back of my throat. Kills it right off! I wonder if I should share the recipe? Fire Cider is not for the faint of heart, though LOL

@snugglebugblueΒ I'm sorry you got sick with Covid! 😣 Honey does have excellent benefits for the throat but dairy milk doesn't. Unless you are using plant-based milks. I suggest herbal teas. 🌿🍡 Those are my absolute favorites for when I'm feeling sick. You can do the classic lemon with honey tea.Β πŸ‹Β Maybe with enough lemon you won't taste the honey? I have heard thyme or licorice root in teas are really good for coughs. Steaming is another natural remedy to soothe your respiratory system.Β  Boil some water and then lean over it with a towel over your head like a tent. Breathe deeply for several minutes (2-3x a day).Β πŸ’§ If you have essential oils like eucalyptus or tea tree to add a few drops in the steamy water that would be perfect! I hope you recover quicklyΒ β™₯️

I like blackcurrant tea and I believe it has antiseptic properties I just ran out and can't go to the shops yet until I'm spicy cough free. Though my throat feels pretty much normal today so that's great!

Sorry you are under the weather.

We grew up with mint tea any time we were sick. Just a cup of hot tea sweetened however you like and add a couple drops of peppermint extract. Helps you breathe easier and the mint also has other bonuses.Β

I also keep elderberry extract syrup on hand and make tea and add that when I feel something coming on.

And any time I am around someone that may be sick I keep several things on hand that boost immune efficiency like Zinc & Vitamin C with Elderberry & Echinacea chewables. Be warned they are not tasty and the flavor lingers, but they boost your system. I add extra zinc and do that for 3 - 7 days after contact with the person.Β

As andrielisilien mentioned, fire cider and steam treatments are great. If you weren't against the honey I would also recommend garlic honey which is packed with goodness for our bodies. I keep a jar on hand. You can also add lemon to this.

I have a recipe for some ginger and honey throat lozenges if you like. I would think you could use maple syrup or something else in place of the honey.

Feel better soonΒ

Milk tea! That is, black tea with a bit of condensed milk. I usually like mine more milky but not overly sweet, so I'll add in some regular milk as well.

I find a hot/warm cup of milk tea is really soothing.
