Diodress Posted September 18, 2022 Report Posted September 18, 2022 I'd like to get into sports betting seriously, and I've even found a good site to do so. But for some reason, I think I might lose all my money. I might even post a link to the site so you can check if it's legit or not, but I probably won't do it because the admins don't like it and I don't want to break the rules. However, just give me advice on this.
SmolAetherr Posted September 18, 2022 Report Posted September 18, 2022 (edited) you sound like you are suggesting trying it out as a way to make money or to use some sort of system to ensure wins if i am correct or incorrect my answer/thoughts would be the same i would only suggest regular gambling to certain people 1. no addictive tendancies/personality, people have completely ruined their lives just for the dopamine rush and i have to say as someone who has a very good idea how addictive that dopamine can be.. its not fucking worth it especially when money is involved and even more so if it is not disposable income you can afford to throw away anyway 2. if you arent sure of the legitimacy i would just find a new site you can trust more, there are laws around fair and ethical gambling for a good reason please be safe and aware of your limits there is a saying in the united kingdom that gambling agencies say "When the fun stops, stop." it means know when to walk away. edit: god damn embarassing typos lol Edited September 18, 2022 by SmolAetherr 3
Vampiress Posted September 20, 2022 Report Posted September 20, 2022 My family is native american, and I have had some family members that have worked in the native owned casinos. Let me tell you... gambling can be highly addictive. You have to know when to stop and cut your losses. If you are losing money it can be very easy to justify to yourself to keep playing to try and win it back, but the odds are almost never in your favor. Honestly, I think there are better things you can spend money on without potentially risking gaining an addiction. However, if you are really bent on getting into this put rules in place for yourself and be VERY strict with yourself about sticking to those rules. 3
DaddysMonkey Posted September 20, 2022 Report Posted September 20, 2022 One of my favorite quotes from my grandpa , “If you have extra money to blow , blow it on things guaranteed to make you more money.” Gambling isn’t a sure fire win. As @Vampiress said it can be highly addictive. When I first met Dad and we were courting each other , he spent an ENTIRE paycheck gambling and lost it all. He makes a lot of money so it was “okay” , and he wasn’t putting himself in a hole ….. yet. That was my biggest stipulation in being his partner. No more gambling. It’s toxic when it becomes uncontrollable. Was it Percy Jackson ? That casino thing they went to and lost track of time… I dunno. Stocks sounds like a better idea to me if you’re gunna dump cash around. 3
