shadowrider Posted April 5, 2024 Report Posted April 5, 2024 Hi y'all, I can't be the only one that attracts mosquitoes, redbugs, and ticks like a magnet. What do y'all use to keep the biting critters away? I have been using Off but want to get away from the chemical stuff. I saw a video of a guy using the leaves from an American Beauty bush in a bottle with alcohol and making a spray. Says it works great so I may try that. If I remember where I saw those bushes I'll let y'all know if it works. I'm also thinking about trying lemon and eucalyptus oils and adding rose geranium oil because I know that rg helps keep ticks away. Have you tried any natural ideas that worked or didn't work? Let us know so we can all stay bite free.
Juju Posted April 6, 2024 Report Posted April 6, 2024 Unfortunately, i know what ticks are and mosquitos... But what is a red bug? If it bites or stings i need to know!🤔

Chiggers are the worst. I don't know many natural ones too fight off bugs but now I think I will look in to it 1
BigDaddys_HunnyBunny Posted April 17, 2024 Report Posted April 17, 2024 I also try to avoid the chemical bug repellents. I use essential oils. Geranium oil is pretty effective. I do a mixture of that and some others like mint. I can't remember the exact recipe I did last summer but there are lots of recipes online. Geranium is the one I remember because I was surprised with it's effectiveness 1

Geranium is the one I remember because I was surprised with it's effectiveness I use geranium to keep pests of the pigs. And it makes them smell nice. I definitely prefer natural to no telling what is really in the store stuff.
