Family and making friends?

Hi All!

 

I am wondering if anybody would mind answering a couple of questions I have? Please only answer if you feel comfortable and I apologise if they seem too personal.

 

I am interested to know if anybody has family/vanilla friends who know of their Big/little side and lifestyle and whether or not it has changed your relationship with them for better or worse? Also, if you have a Big or little how do you handle family get togethers/hangouts if they aren't aware of your lifestyle choices?

 

I would also like to ask if any of you have a lot of friends who are Bigs/littles? If in a couple do you have couple friends who are in the lifestyle as well and what were your experiences like with making such friends?

 

I appreciate any insight into my questions and I apologise if either of these have been previously raised in a seperate topic.

I can't answer a whole lot, since I haven't had a little living with me before. I have told others about it, and so long as I keep it straight-forward, there's been no issue. Their concern has been whether my little is of age and mature enough for me as a person. It took a little bit of explaining about the age thing, but the three people I have told (all very close friends) have supported me and pretty much said something to the effect of, 'totally makes sense for you'.

 

I have talked to my little about when we are around others, and what names we would use for each other. Though we haven't tested it out yet.

 

I don't have any RL friends that are bigs/littles that I know of. I did get to know one little that was local, but she wasn't exactly stable or mature.

 

If you are looking for local friends, then internet boards are a great place to start looking. This forum is wonderful, but there are others you can search for online that can be a help. There are boards on reddit that cater directly to littles and bigs (littlespace, littlepersonals, littlespacepersonals, among others), depending on what you are looking for. You can also go further if you are open to other types of D/s situations. I won't list them here, but you can find links to them on those I mentioned. Of course "caveat emptor" applies. Be careful when you are meeting someone online. Take precautions, yadda yadda.

 

You could also look at Fetlife, but I would be kind of careful about what you put on there. There are a lot of people that flock there looking for cheap and easy sex. Some places, though, do have D/s and BDSM get togethers that are safer and saner.

I haven't discussed my lifestyle choices with my family directly. Though my mom and dad are both aware of my child like activites. I do not hide coloring, watching cartoons, wearing onesies, hugging stuffies. Neither care, my mom sometimes colors with me and watches my little pony with me. My dad buys stuffies and stickers for me. They just think I'm a big kid, don't question it, to them it's just how I am. My nephews also think it's fun I watch cartoons with them.

 

I have 1 little friend in RL. He's quite funny and it took some time to ask him if he was a little, he didn't know what it was actually but he displayed several of the same things I enjoyed as activities he likes too. So when I asked I had to explain it to him and he was actually fairly happy to have found out about the lifestyle. I only asked because I've known him for about 8 or 9 years prior.

 

In family situations my Daddy and I decided we'd use vanilla pet names and act under the radar. I'd never call him Daddy in front of family or friends, mine or his.

I am glad to hear that you were able to confide in people who were supportive of your choices it's great to have that! I will also look into the sites you mentioned and see how I go so thanks for the informarion on those and I do agree with you about fetlife!

 

Daddy'sLilita I envy you! If I started colouring or watching cartoons infront of my family they would definitely question it! So it's hard to have to remember to rein it in a bit when I'm in their presence. But it's great to hear that you get to be you and do that stuff around them and with them! Also in regards to your little friend? I realised after getting more into this lifestyle that one of my old friends (we lost contact) actually displayed a lot of little tendencies and looking back on some of the times we shared together we really did do a lot of 'little' things. Shame on one hand that we are no longer in contact but I am sure I will have more little local friends in the future to look forward to and have play dates with.
