Andriel_Isilien Posted May 24 Report Posted May 24 Some herbs like to spread their roots to overtake gardens with no bounds. I keep mine in pots to make them behave. This year I got my hands (with gloves) on some stinging nettle and lemon balm. 🌿 I'm excited to use these two herbs for making tea! On the left is stinging nettle you need gloves on when handling but once dried or cooked it's totally safe. I already harvested some which is why it's so small. This is a super herb full of nutrients like iron, vitamin C, calcium, vitamin A and more! 💪 I have seasonal allergies, and nettle is a natural antihistamine. This thing grows like a weed! On the right is lemon balm and it's adjusting so well in a pot after I dug it up! This herb is another powerhouse of benefits. Mainly lemon balm is known for calming down stress which I'm all for 🙌 It is also good for digestion and heart health. This is in the mint family and therefore likes to overgrow. The lemony-citrus scent of this herbs gives it the name.
Andriel_Isilien Posted May 24 Author Report Posted May 24 Mint is famous for going crazy in gardens. I have seen the plants get HUGE in other people's gardens. The roots are near impossible to contain in the ground because they will spread out and under everything. This I set in a pot several years ago to solve that problem. Container gardening is also very useful for when you have to relocate and want to take your herbs with you. All of these herbs I have I got from other people on Facebook Marketplace. They were literally giving them away for free; dig up yourself and bring your own pot. Brilliant way to network and find gardening plants being sold. There's so much to find there, I highly recommend! 1
BigMeat Posted June 4 Report Posted June 4 @Andriel_Isilien I need to get some mint plants as well. They are good for repelling mosquitoes! Spearmint and rosemary probably work better for mosquito repelling, but it would be nice to have all three. Here in Texas, the mosquitoes are ruthless😓 thank you for your invite to the group! 1
