Flower_Dragon Posted May 25 Report Posted May 25 Kay so, I've been fighting ants in my kitchen for the past couple weeks. And then...they hit me right in the caffeine. Those little bastards shifted their nest to my coffeemaker! And since the coffeemaker is black, I didn't even notice until I had the carafe In. My. Hand. So, good news bad news. I think they're mostly gone, but I did need a new coffeemaker. I removed those little shits from my house And got a new coffeemaker. Didn't even cry. 2 1 1

Ugh ants are so frustrating!!! I also have to do some ant detergent again because it seems like anything I use only lasts a few weeks tops. On the other hand though go you for not getting too upset! Messing with caffine is serious buisness 1
Flower_Dragon Posted May 25 Author Report Posted May 25 @PigtailPrincess Thanks! I dunno if you've tried this, but I've used baking soda and powdered sugar, equal parts and it worked. For a while. Or if they don't like sugar you could do baking soda and peanut butter or bacon grease. Though I do think it depends on the kind of ants you have. Mine were just those tiny house ants. At once point I had ants coming in through the bathroom window too. I went nuts one day and aggressively duct taped all around the window. Why not caulk? I rent. I shan't be helping the landlord. Also, it looks insane, but it did work. 1
Little Nyx Posted May 25 Report Posted May 25 @Flower_Dragon @PigtailPrincess {shudder} I am phobic of ants and spend a good hour every spring putting down Ortho Home Defense as a deterrent. I also keep Terro liquid bait traps on hand just in case they mange to get past the preventative measures. Nasty, horrible little creatures! How dare they contaminate the sanctity of the coffee maker?!!!
Flower_Dragon Posted May 25 Author Report Posted May 25 @Little Nyx Not to mention if they bite you it Burns. You feel it go up your arm. I'm just glad I don't don't live in a place that has fire ants. 1
Andriel_Isilien Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Holy moly! I didn't know ants would go for coffee 😲 That's awful and in your hand!! Wow. I hope they don't come back! 1

I hope they don't come back! The coffee pot was empty, if that helps. Oh yea, since the carafe was already in my hand, I didn't know what to do, they were already scattering, so I tried to douse them underwater. It did, kind of, work. Also, I adore guinea pigs. 🥰 2
Looksee Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Ants are a knightmare I hate killing them but every year have to put ant powder down just hate having them in the kitchen 1
PigtailPrincess Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 I use the little gel poison traps. Not the most environmental but it's the only thing that works 1
