Andriel_Isilien Posted December 4 Report Posted December 4 I still have feeding the birds on my mind, especially as it is snowing in my area. 🥺 They still need to eat and it's cold! I came across this adorable idea on Pinterest to make a festive ginger bread like house for not just birds but other little visitors. https://backyardfarming.blogspot.com/2015/12/decorate-gingerbread-house-as-bird.html?m=1 Materials for the base can be plain graham crackers or cardboard. Actual gingerbread ingredients are not the best for animals to eat from. For the "frosting or glue" use peanut butter, coconut oil, or just about any other nut butter. I had sunflower butter then I mixed cornmeal in with it as the blog suggested. I also had a Happy Meal cardboard box I turned inside out which made a nice house shape. Ingredients for decorating can be air popped popcorn, raw nuts, dried fruits, and various seeds. I have leftover hamster food mix that I used. It is important to go for no salt or as little salt as possible with these. You can go simple, arrange to do a pattern, add on pinecones, whatever bits of nature you find! This was messy with seeds spilling everywhere. 😄 So have fun with that! On my way out I already saw one small birdie checking out the new house 🐦
