The home nation's World Cup got off to a good start last night.

Scotland's campaign saw them score the first goal with a strike from Aston Villa captain John McGinn sealing a win against good opposition from Haiti who came close on a few occasions. It was the first time for 44 years that Scotland won their first game at the World Cup, and celebrations from the fans in the crowds showed their absolute joy.

Having not taken part in the World Cup since 1988, and with Scotland having had a qualifying campaign full of blistering moments, hopes were deservedly high.

It was also a good night for Scotland's defence and goalkeeper, with history being made as Angus Gunn became the third Scottish goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the World Cup, following David Harvey (twice in 1974) and Jim Leighton (1986).

Other group results included a 1-1 draw for Brazil vs Morocco, so that allowed Scotland's result to catapult them to the top of their group with a 2 point lead.

Congratulations to the Tartan Army!
