DIY ripped jeans?

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone happened to know how beginner friendly it would be to reuse some old jeans with a whole new distressed vibe? I don't really wear jeans in my vanilla life anymore and I'm needing to start I guess kind of a side wardrobe for my middlespace vibes so I don't have to just improvise with the last black trousers I have left lol. I'm considering just buying some, I've basically never fixed up or modified clothes before but if it's relatively straightforward I thought this might be a cost effective way.
