Easter Badge Requirements

Easter (April 5th)- You can choose to do a faith badge or a Easter Bun buns Badge, or both! The choice is yours! Cannot start until 12amon the 5th.

Activities:

* Write a short paragraph about the different traditions you do to celebrate Easter. e.g. Do you go to church? Do you have a special family dinner or is it just you and your Big? Etc... anything you want to write about that pertains to how you celebrate.

* Color Easter egg(s). Hard boiled or perhaps a blown out egg. (I use to make one of these every year). If you can't color eggs, then Hide eggs and have an Easter egg hunt. Maybe a scavenger hunt.

* Write a paragraph about your day. What activities did you do to celebrate? If you don't celebrate Easter, possibly write it about Spring and what you like about it.

* Color a picture of something that symbolizes Easter to you. One about Spring, a Easter bun buns, Eggs, flowers etc...

* Free choice: you pick what you want to make to show us. Your creation. Your imagination.

All activities for this one is required.

Show pictures to your leader or contact me, before midnight on the 12th

1. Otay here we go!

Easter is a lot and for my family it doesn't start on Easter Sunday, but 40 days before.... sorry everyone, but skip this part if it offends you, I'm letting my Christian out to breath....

We celebrate Ash Wednesday 40 days before Easter. It's a day when we remember that our bodies came from nothing and will one day return to nothing but our spirit lives eternally.  We spend 40 days preparing our spirit, hearts, minds, and bodies to celebrate Easter. It is the biggest celebration of the Christian calendar! During these 40 days we dedicate something to help ourselves stay focused on bettering ourselves.  Some people fast, some give something up, some commit to new healthier habits. Everyone is different and it's about personal growth, not ritualistic habits. This year I committed to resting and listening to praise music daily. It was beautiful!

The week before Easter we celebrate Palm Sunday, or the Triumphal Entry which goes back to Bible times when Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey and is celebrated. At church the kids do a special parade in with palm fronds and singing and dancing to start worship. This year my daughter learned a special dance at another church so we did 2 services for Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday begins Holy Week... as the week goes, we remember the sacrifices Jesus made for us. Different churches in town set up The Stations of the Cross where we can walk through and see the journey of Christ as he was crucified for our sins... it is very solemn experience.

Thursday is Maundy Thursday where we celebrate a Passover meal at church, just as Jesus did and Friday is called Good Friday. Early in the morning, the men in tiwn are invited to a men's breakfast, as they are the leaders in our community and held to a higher standard. Then at noon, many business close, at least for the hour and several churches have community services. Noon is the time it is said that Jesus died. We have an hour of silence.

Usually we do traditional egg hunts on Saturday morning... just in case you were wondering... I don't live in a complete cult-like community... but it's pretty close...

Sunday morning is celebration! Full out party time... many churches off sunrise services in addition to regular worship... our offered breakfast of pastries and coffee before worship then they acted out the stone being rolled away! And singing... dancing... praising... at least 30 - 45 minutes of this before the greeting and offering! Many churches do baptisms, too... we did not this year... we did communion after a sermon and more singing and dancing... (I go to that church in town... the outreach church... we're different)...

Then it's lunch and usually I cook, but this year was with my friend and mentor and we do an egg hunt... if you ever wanna hear about resurrection eggs, I'll tell you...

Somewhere in there I usually give my kids Easter baskets, but this year it was just some pink peeps candy...

I hid eggs for the egg hunt and helped my kiddo find the ones she missed!

3.

About the day... we went to church, I made green bean casserole and cranberry Jello to take along for lunch. My daughter had never had a formal family meal before and didn't know to wait for the hostess to begin eating... 🙃  great teachable moment!

Something else....

Well I wanna share how I really messed up the cranberries... it was my own recipe and I know how to make them, but kinda forgot coz I haven't cooked a big meal in a few years... so I waited til Sunday morning to start... you just boil the cranberries and add Jello instead if sugar then let it set and it kinda looks like the yelled stuff in a can, but a little bit healthier... ofc I add cool whip so not healthier... anyways... I made a double batch and popped it in the fridge and of course that thing was not set by lunch time! It needed overnight to mold... 🤦‍♀️ Poppy! Oh well it tasted good! It was just runny... 😆  no one knew but me that it was supposed to be solid and not watery... hehe!
