EXTREME HEAT WARNING - SOUTHERN UK *** NOW UPDATED ***

Just in case you have missed this.....

The UK's Meteorological service has issued warnings of extreme heat and humidity, along with high UV levels for parts of the UK on Monday and Tuesday this week. There is a potential for this to extend into later parts of the week, depending on the high pressure system that is close to the UK. While temperatures in other parts of the world can exceed this, the UK population and infrastructure is not acclimatised to this.

Please make sure you stay hydrated more than usual, wear sunscreen, and avoid long exposure to the sun. Those with medical conditions are believed to be most at risk, and heat stroke and sun burn is a very likely possibility.

For those tempted to enter bodies of water such as rivers lakes or the sea to cool off, cold water shock is possible, with several people having sadly lost their life to this earlier in the year.

The Met office have now updated and upgraded the extreme heat warning to go into wednesday and thursday this week, with UV levels, temperatures and humidity set to exceed previous expectations. This has led to a rare upgrade from the previous AMBER warning that has now gone to a RED warning, with temperatures set to exceed 38 degrees celcius (over 100 degrees F).
