NR_Daddy Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 (edited) The most impressive solar eclipse visible from the UK in almost 30 years can be enjoyed by people across the country on Wednesday 12 August at around 7pm. Around 90-96 per cent of the Sun will be covered by the Moon shortly after 6pm, with the precise time varying by location. Those in the UK will see the sky turn slightly dimmer as the partial solar eclipse peaks, while parts of Spain, northern Portugal and Iceland will be treated to the first total solar eclipse visible over mainland Europe in 27 years. *** HAZARD TO EYESIGHT *** LOOKING DIRECTLY AT THE ECLIPSE, EVEN THROUGH THE LENS OF A CAMERA OR PHONE, IS DANGEROUS FOR YOUR EYES. IT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE OR EVEN BLINDNESS Eclipse glasses, or adequate filters on cameras and telescopes are required as they filter out the harmful rays of the sun. Eclipse glasses must be certified to ISO 12312-2 safety standard. They can be ordered from ukeclipse.com, but it will probably be too late to get them now.
