Hey!!!

So I was wondering about all of you lovely people's opinions on long distance DDLG relationships. Even though I'm in one myself sometimes I feel like it's so hard and I just want to know what others do to keep it going and such.

For those in them:

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships?

What is your favorite thing that you do together?

How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences?

How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person?

What kind of punishments do you receive?

What's the best part of having an LDR?

Thanks for looking at this post. I can't wait to see your answers.

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships?

I don't get to see him as often as I'd like, or even talk to him as often as I'd like. I don't get the physical contact, you know the general stuff couples get. I'm not even nearly as far away as some people, especially not Remi. But 2 hours is still distance, and with him being in the navy it's just a lot of work. But don't get me wrong, it's all worth it.

What is your favorite thing that you do together?

I like our weekly dinner and reading dates. Once a week, Papa reads to me. We are currently reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. And we also have dinner once a week and talk about what's been going on and just stay connected.

How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences?

Weekend visits. I don't know what I would do without them to be perfectly honest.

How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person?

Usually once a week, but it'll be two weeks since we've seen each other this weekend. Luckily, I'm going down there tomorrow after I look at my potential apartment.

What kind of punishments do you receive?

He hasn't punished me yet; he's actually waiting to do it in person. But when I did break the rule he sent me straight to bed and said I couldn't do something but I can't remember what.

What's the best part of having an LDR?

We have to make sure we stay close; we have to work harder and it has a better payoff, I think. It also makes in-person visits mean a lot more.

Dinner and reading dates sound very cute and enjoyable.

I'm glad you both make it work, especially with him being in the Navy and all. Does he deploy often or does he have to move every couple of years? I grew up as a military brat but thankfully my dad was in the reserves so moving wasn't a requirement until later on in my teen years. However I grew up with lots of other military kids, especially ones with parents in the army, and I was so used to having friends move away after 3 years. I'm not sure what it's like with the Navy though so that's why I ask.

He deployed for three months and he has to deploy again at some point soon-ish but not all the time. He does have to relocate places like he'll have to go to Hawaii around the time I graduate actually (poor him).

Daddy and I only became long distance six months ago, so we're still new to finding ways to make a LDR work.

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships?

Lack of affection. We've both had some difficult times since we last saw each other in December, and it's been really hard not being able to just hug him when either of us has a bad day. I always feel so bad that I can't just hug him tight and stroke his hair when he has a hard day. And it's hard to sleep alone after months and months of at least one sleepover a weekend.

What is your favorite thing that you do together?

We really love to play Minecraft or Castle Crashers together! We have a Minecraft server that's just the two of us and we're building a castle with a pretend dragon outside of the tower. I'm the princess of the kingdom and he's captain of the guard so he can protect me. Castle Crashers is super fun and cute! Daddy bought me the Pink Knight character who's armor is covered in kisses and sword is a lollipop.

How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences?

We each sacrifice sleep sometimes. I'll wake up way earlier than I need to so that I can talk to him during his lunch or he'll stay up a little later than he'd like if I've had a bad day and need some extra attention. We're also just learning to cope with the fact that sometimes he has watch and is unavailable or sometimes I have to go to the lab and can't talk. But we always make sure to say goodnight. If we can, we'll excuse ourselves from whatever we're doing to answer a goodnight call and if not possible, we send a goodnight text at the next possible moment.

How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person?

I can't even count this because we lived 15 minutes from each other for 10 1/2 months before he left. But since he's left, I've seen him twice. Once for his graduation from boot camp in October and then for about a week in December when he came home for Christmas.

What kind of punishments do you receive?

Corner time is evil and I hate it. I miss spankings. And lectures are so much more bearable when you get a forehead kiss after.

What's the best part of having an LDR?

There is nothing good about LDRs. But I'm also impatient for the long distance section of our relationship to be over and I was used to having him close. I guess the only good thing I could say is that I don't have to deal with my family complaining about how much time I spend with him.

We also always say "Soon is a turtle." I ask how much longer till I get to see him all the time. And he always goes, "Soon." One day I asked, "Is soon a turtle? Because it's taking FOREVER." And so now we just kind of remind ourselves that Soon is a turtle and to be like the tortoise from the Tortoise and the Hare story and to enjoy the journey.

I was in a long distances relationship with my former Master. So I'm going to answer these.

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships?
The hardest thing for me with this kind of relationship was the cost of coming and seeing each other. It's hard because you have to work in a sheducal and planning can sometimes fall on it's head. I also found it a little hard sometimes to believe everything my Master was telling me. Because text sometimes is hard to understand. Skype helps because you can hear someones infection on a word compared to your own personal one.

What is your favorite thing that you do together?
For my ex and i, it was just being able to talk late at night, or skypeing for a little bit.
How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences?
We only had a bit of a time difference, and we made it work out pretty fine. We'd both be on.
How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person?

At that time I only saw him a couple of times in person and then he was rather enger with me moving in, so I did.  I now later regret that. I should have went slower.
What kind of punishments do you receive?

At that time, no touchy touchy.

What's the best part of having an LDR?

I feel like it shows how much love and trust you have for one another. It also is a really big test a I think a lot of really strong and healthy relationships can come out of LDR Relationships.

I'm not in one right now, but I have been in one.

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships? Definitely the distance and no physical contact
What is your favorite thing that you do together? My favorite things was just talking to him on the phone <3
How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences? We talked a lot, texted a lot, we sent each other things.
How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person? 0, but planned on it.
What kind of punishments do you receive? I never really had punishments cuz I'm a good girl :)
What's the best part of having an LDR? I'm not sure really, but if I really really love the person I'm with I don't care if they're down the street or miles and miles away. We'd try to make it work .

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships?

the distance and lack of immediate physical comfort for me. Not being able to just hug him when im feeling needy.

What is your favorite thing that you do together?

talking. Just talking about absolutely nothing and everything. I love when he talks to me. or when im talking and he stops me to tell me my enthusiasm is the cutest shit ever.

How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences?

Theres a slight difference yeah but we just need to remin each other often that its not fair to the other to keep them up past or wake them obcenely early.

How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person?

I havent yet and thats one of the hardest parts. That lack of physical intimacy kills me sometimes. skype helps and talking to him everyday helps too.

What kind of punishments do you receive?

loss of privileges. No cumming. No games. I had to write standards once :3

What's the best part of having an LDR?

I think were more concious of each others emotions and well being because were not immediately there to help the other or be supportive and loving.

My daddy and I started out LDR. We only lasted this way about three months, however. I was so fascinated by him and we're such visceral people that as soon as we knew we loved each other, I bought him a plane ticket to come meet me. Not only that, but our first week together was so romantic, that as soon as he arrived back where he came from, I bought him another plane ticket for him to come and stay for good. We moved in together after only being in a relationship for a month. He and I are now engaged.

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships?

Lack of touch. Being able to lay down with my daddy and touch him and be touched and to talk with him in the car or at the dinner table. To have dinner with him. I talked with him via IM and skype but I couldn't imagine the benefit of being there in the flesh.

What is your favorite thing that you do together?

We had a date night over the internet. We would stream a movie together. Our first date movie was "a clockwork orange" and it was pretty awesome.

How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences?

We made it work initially because my daddy had no job so he would be on the internet all the time. He still has no job, but now he cooks.

How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person?

I have now lived with him for three years.

What kind of punishments do you receive?

Initially we didn't do the D/S thing, though I awoke it deep within him. My daddy is not especially punishment oriented, but I ran by him the concept of doing line punishments. ( http://linepunishment.com/ )

What's the best part of having an LDR?

I did not enjoy my LDR. However, if I had to do it, the best part would be advancing my career, because that's the only reason I'd leave him now.

Im locked out of this account lol but this was my thing :< anyways. For all us LDR couples, theres this super cool app its called Couple and its really helped me and Daddy. You get to chat with each other and set dates and make lists for one another and send each other doodles and pictures and videos and stuff. And theres this feature called Thumbkiss and you both touch your screens and when youre touching the same spot it lights up and vibrates and its just pure cuteness and I strongly support everyone getting it lol. That is all. Its just really helped me :3

My Daddy and I were in a LDR for a year and a half before we moved in together.

What's the hardest thing about these kinds of relationships?
The wanting to see them and not being able to.

What is your favorite thing that you do together?
Just spending time together was all that matters, especially knowing that in a few days we'd have to leave each other.

How do you make it work especially it you have major time zone differences?
Normally we didn't have any major timezone differences. But when he traveled for work it made it sort of hard to keep in touch. I'd stay up until he called and then be exhausted the next morning. It made texting a bit difficult too.

How many times have you seen the other person in relationship in person?
When we were doing the LDR thing we tried to see each other as much as we could. In the beginning we aimed for every other weekend but sometimes it just didn't work out that way. Eventually we were able to make it work so that we saw each other every weekend, except when he had a work trip.

What kind of punishments do you receive?
I had to write lines and mail them to him by a certain date, he'd keep a tally of how many swats he owed me, after I was presented with my collar there were times he punished me by not letting me wear it while I slept, a few times he made me wet my pants on skype for him or he'd have me send a video and photos of me doing as a humiliation punishment and sometimes he'd give me an essay to write which had to be mailed to him by a certain date.

What's the best part of having an LDR?
For us the best part was knowing that it wasn't going to be like that forever.

I have a ldr with my little one She lives 6000 miles away

I hate it but we make it work as we have kids and such n such.

As mentioned the cost of travel really sucks ! ... And i hate when she cries and i cant hold her.

Nowing it wont be forever .... I like that comment thank you :) ... And the app suggestion i will check it out.

I find i cant make it past 8 weeks .... For those of you with people in the forces ... And hence no choice i feel for you ....

Its all worth it in the end.

My opinion: LD relationships are bogus.  There is no accountability in either of the partners and the whole relationship is an illusion.  Nothing replaces the touch of a real hand, and certainly an anonyumous LD "daddy" can't change a diaper for you.
